Is there another place other than angies list to let people know about business' who take your money and run? I live in Maryland and had a landscaping & removal take money and not do the work. I heard of Angie's list ,but you have to pay and join. I was looking for someplace I could let people know what happened to me to prevent it happening again to someone else.

Is it worth it to pay for advertising on angies list? I own a locksmith/security business and I am looking at angies list. I am curious if there are any people that are purchasing adds from them and if they work. The ads can run $50 a month or more and its a 12 month agreement. So anyone in a similar emergency style industry that think its worth it? similar such as plumber, handyman, electrician etc.

I don't want to enter all of my personnal informaiton like my credit card to find out it is not a price I am willing to pay. It seems like a marketing gimmick and I don't appreciate the approach. The contracter I hired to remodel has abandoned the job? I hired a remodeling contractor who promised to finish the job in 6 to 8 weeks. It is now close to a year and he has not finished his job. We have paid almost 80% of contract money and abided by payment schedule of contract. We have contract, but we did not put a deadline, as he promosed to finish in 6 to 8 weeks. We did a mistake of trusting him and did not bother to check BBB or Angies List. He is rated 'F' in Angies list, by many and have some complains in BBB. He is asking for more money for some changes he claims he did and has put huge amounts for those. We have not approved such amounts and changes in writing. We are planning to talk to our attorney, give this guy an ultimatum to finish the work in 'x' days or so or we plan to get it done from someone else and if that costs us more than the remaining 20% we have not paid him, we want to sue him for recovery. This is in Illinois. I want advise from people who have been there and done that. The project is almost at finishing stage

Is this an ok price for roofing/handyman work? I would like to know if this is an appropriate price for handyman/roofing work. If you say no, please tell me why. I live in Chester County PA. The average house value is probably $300K (ranging from $80K to million dollar homes), but I am in a townhouse valued at about $175K. Rakeboard on one side of roof capped with metal/tin Dryer vent installed in roof (already ran up to attic but need parts) 30 feet of gutters anchored on 2 sides of roof (60 feet-reuse existing gutters) One downspout re-attached plus elbow installed connecting downspout to gutter Soffet vents (6) cleaned with wire brush Blow-in kind of insulation moved away from 3 soffit vents Ridge vent installed, about 30 feet long, shingle $1550 for everything. This is from a licensed, insured company who is rated well supposedly on angies list. Also, I found them using Superpages.com. If they don't do it right super pages will come in and fix it. I've had a horrible time getting quotes, I've gotten a few, one from a shady guy for $800, others for $2,000. Thanks for any help!

Posted a problem contractor on Angie's list... now being warned of slander? We hired a contractor who did a crappy job and didn't finish the work. I submitted a report on Angie's List. I had given the contractor 6 months of opportunities to take care of it and informed him that if he didn't return and complete the work I would file with local contractors board and Angie's list. Today I received a legal letter stating that if I do submit a report I would be sued for slander and for economic and emotional distress. I filed the Angie's list report last week and the contractors board complaint a few days ago. I stated facts and was respectful, though contractor is a wapping idiot. What do you all think?

Why don't manufacturers make packaging more recyclable? Every noticed the lid to your plastic water bottle is not recyclable? Did you know that civic recycling centers have to mark the percentage of contamination due to lids and other package components that are not recyclable? Wouldn't it help if manufacturers reduced the amount of packaging and made the remainder 100% recyclable? Of course, the first choice is not to consume more than necessary to begin with - i.e., fill your drink bottle at home and avoid purchasing bottled drinks at work, etc. We need an Green/Eco version of Angie's list to rate goods and services from an environmental perspective.

How do I find a new Primary Doctor in Columbus Ohio? I live in Columbus, Ohio I have a primary doctor I do not like. Which is better dry or wet setting fence posts? I was told that, due to Indiana's drastic weather dry is best. I was told by the owner of a fence company that dry setting allows for a more complete and superior set over the long term. He stated and showed me pictures of how, if a wet set is used, the first movement the fence experiences due to winds or whatever essentially dooms the fence. After the initial movement posts which were wet set will start to crack and any movement will be further exacerbated as the concrete continues to crack, water infiltrates and our winters further open the cracks from freezing, thawing, and then refreezing. Eventually the fence posts will start to heave (rise up out of the settings) and damage occurs to the fence. The owner continued by saying that he would do either wet or dry without any different in price but recommended the dry as the best option for Indiana climate. This company has been recognized by the BBB and Angie' list but I would like more feedback from any of you who have experienced problems with either wet or dry and your recommendations.
