Has anyone seen the Reader's Digest article listing the happiest countries in the world? A Mexican friend of mine who lives in Mexico just wrote to me about the following that he read in the November Reader's Digest. I have tried to find the article on the internet, but cannot. Maybe it is only shown in the Mexican version, I don't know. Has anyone on here seen this? Happiest countries: Apparently, the Mexican version of the November Reader's Digest says Mexico rates #2 as the happiest country and the USA rates #15. Has anyone seen this? I wonder how Mexico can be rated so high when more than 400,000 of their citizens run to the USA to live illegally every year? I can see why the USA rates so low, considering how unhappy the citizens are about all the illegal immigrants in their country, but how can Mexico rate so high when so many of them want to get OUT of Mexico and INTO the USA? 1. Puerto Rico 2. Mexico 3. Denmark 4. Ireland 5. Iceland 10. Canada 15. U.S.A.
What was that article about Gossip Girl? I don't really remember but awhile back I was reading this magazine (forgot the title) and it was about the Gossip Girl crew. Does anyone else find these yahoo careers articles ridiculous? the most current yahoo "careers bulit to last" article lists teachers, writers, medical insurance people and cops as in demand and secure. they also list teachers and cops as making over 50 grand a year and business admin and law majors having the best job outlook. these articles are so false they make me laugh. who else agrees that they are stupid, false, and misleading?
Why doesn't this article list the guy's political party? Atlantic City mayor quits after disappearance http://news.yahoo.com/s/nm/20071010/pl_nm/atlanticcity_dc_1 "PHILADELPHIA (Reuters) - Atlantic City Mayor Robert Levy resigned on Wednesday, 12 days after he disappeared on an unexplained medical leave and created a leadership crisis in New Jersey's gambling city. Levy's resignation, announced by his lawyer, was precipitated by an investigation by the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs which is looking into whether he actually received two awards that appear on his military record. Levy served in Vietnam during the 1960s and early 1970s..." Apparently the guy did have a very admirable service record, but for some reason he felt he had to pad it for political purposes and to get extra VA benefit payments. It's actually sort of sad. But why no mention of his political party in the article?
do i need to cite wikipedia if i just use some of the sources it lists and not the actual article? Hi, I'm in a debate tournament and in order to find out some more information about the International Criminal Court I went on to wikipedia. I know that itself wikipedia isn't a credible source but some really good sources and info from the article at the bottom of the page where they cite THEIR sources. Parents, do you find this article interesting? http://news.yahoo.com/s/livescience/20081204/sc_livescience/threatofpunishmentworksstudysuggests The article listed above says that new findings suggest that punishments DO work when used in the proper context. What do you think? Do you agree? I do. Thank God, people are finally understanding that punishments do have a place in life. Yes Desmeran, I agree. When used in the proper context, punishment can be a very good thing. As far as "who" is pushing the no punishment thing, I've seen quite a few people here on the parenting board that say punishments don't teach a thing. But they do! They teach that there are consequences for their actions and that at times those consequences are not always pleasant. Anyhow thanks for the great feedback from everyone so far.

What are some good sites for interesting news/articles/lists? Not necessarily news like politics and such, but more random and interesting things that you wouldn't hear elsewhere. I found a site last night(2leep) that linked to some interesting sites but it has some content that can be pretty crude and links up to some questionable sites. The thing I think that made 2leep interesting was that it linked bloggers and could show a wide range of things from different websites, but that was also what turned me off because of some of the content of the sites. So something like that even, that could be sort of like a core to show you a wide range of stories around the web would be cool, but preferably something that isn't so crude. Wow that kinda went longer than I intended but thanks to anyone that can help! Hope this made sense!

How is "adjusted sack rate" calculated? I read some articles listing it, but for the life of me I can't seem to find out how it's calculated. I've seen it for offense and defense (rate of a defense getting them, and rate of an offense allowing them). A specific question relating to submitting the same content to article sites? Is there a recommended 'top 10?'

Why am I sabotaging myself from having a great life by always having something that needs organizing and de-cluttering?
I read in a nationally syndicated newspaper an article listing gas prices per gallon...? in seven countries including the United States. Yahoo News - Answers button attached to each article with its own mini category? I would like to read an article, and click a button that leads to a dynamically created section for that news article. Users can ask questions there regarding the article, much like the rest of yahoo answers but isolated. Do you like this idea? It would be a hybrid comment system, and allow very VERY on topic questions and answers to happen. It would also add a massive article full worth of keywords for a given article, and answer question list.

How can I tell if a research article is peer reviewed? I found an study on the effects of low-carbohydrate diets on metabolism through my university's article database. When you search for something, it brings up a list of the titles of the articles, a short synopsis of the study, and it tells you whether it's peer reviewed or not.
