What was the most successful American business of the 20th century? A business magazine wrote an article in the late 1990's. They calculated the total profits of businesses and subtracted the overhead and other costs. They had a Top 100 list. I believe that fast food was number 10. Automobiles were farther down on the list due to the cost of design. Does anybody remember the number one business? Can you guess it? I can't remember it.

Can you supply me w/ a list of American big business companies and what pct. of their labor is out sourced? I would also be interested in their profits. America's biggest problem is lack of jobs. I want to know which companies are ignoring the significance by how they are headquartered in the US but have little concern about how much we need the work. I used to promote the American spirit by buying American. Today, I want to know which companies don't care about the American spirit (because they out source the labor when we need it most) and I want to make a concerted effort to buy f/ the companies that provide ample employment here.
I would like to have a list of American veterans of World War II who started a business in the Philippines.? There must be many American servicemen who saw opportuinities in the Philippines after the war. One is William Bird who put up Philippine Rock but I cannot find data on this guy on the internet.. One example: Harry Stonehill, a retired United States Army Lieutenant, brought in tobacco seeds from America. He printed manuals on how to flue-cure tobacco leaves, and, together with the seeds, distributed them free to the farmers of Ilocos Sur, Abra and Ilocos Norte. He built flue-curing barns in Agoo and San Juan, La Union and in Sta. Barbara, and Jan Jacinto, Pangasinan. He established the Philippine Tobacco Flue-Curing and Redrying Corporation (PTFCRC). Together with John Witney, a tobacco expert, and Peter Lim, a businessman, Stonehill pioneered in the Virginia tobacco industry unfortunately, he got into trouble with President Diosdado Macapagal.
Who is a Native American? George Armstrong Custer predicted Native Americans soon would be extinct before he ordered his soldiers to kill them at the Battle of Little Bighorn in 1876. Just as Custer discovered in his fatal encounter with Lakota and Cheyenne warriors, the native tribes proved resilient in surviving impossible odds. More than 4 million U.S. citizens in 2003 identified as Native Americans, either alone or in combination with another race. This is a little more than 1 percent of the total 294 million people living in the United States, far fewer than the 10 to 25 million believed to be living in North America when European settlers arrived about 500 years ago. Those settlers spread fatal diseases, imposed genocide, forced assimilation, stole land, broke treaties, destroyed cultures and committed other crimes that ravaged indigenous societies. Centuries of dehumanization resulted in the educational, economic and health disparities evidenced by Native Americans today. But refusal to succumb also nurtured a strong will embodied by many Native Americans who now comprise more than 560 federally recognized tribes and nations spread across 34 states and 140 more tribes applying for federal recognition. That strong will has empowered Native-American entrepreneurs and those in the corporate world to thrive in a society where mainstream values sometimes run counter to their traditional beliefs. Yet Jackie Gant's frustration is clear when she speaks of how many people only envision slot machines and blackjack tables when they think of Native Americans as an economic force. Gant, national executive director of the Native American Business Alliance, met Bush administration officials in the White House in September to let them know of the 10,000 Native-American-owned businesses listed in her database. Her organization's mission is to create networking opportunities and promote Native-American businesses as suppliers to corporate America and government agencies. Her group has the support of corporate sponsors including United Parcel Service, Ford Motor Co., General Motors, DaimlerChrysler, Toyota, The Coca-Cola Co., General Mills, Target and The Walt Disney Co. At the meeting, she tried to convey the strength of a people who saved the first white settlers from starvation and influenced the founding fathers in shaping the Constitution. Gant is a member of the Oneida Nation of the Thames, Canada, and Munsee-Delaware Nation. "As I stood, I felt the weight of Indian country on my shoulders and I knew the words I spoke needed to be heard," Gant says. Gant and other Native Americans have made great strides in dispelling myths and bringing attention to their issues, but the widespread ignorance of their history still pervades the highest levels of leadership, up to and including the president himself. President Bush displayed a lack of knowledge on the most crucial issue facing Native Americans—sovereignty—when he was asked in August what tribal sovereignty in the 21st century meant to him. "You are a ... you have been given sovereignty, and you are viewed as a sovereign entity," Bush told journalists of color gathered in Washington, D.C. Bush's response rang hollow and was reminiscent of the countless false promises many white men have made to Native Americans over centuries. Sovereignty speaks to the right of Native Americans to control their own land where they are free to shape their economic and spiritual destiny and maintain their traditions and culture. The lack of substance and depth in Bush's answer typified the harmful perceptions, attitudes and actions that have persisted for centuries among white leaders. Those who say that the wrongs of the past are history and that it is time to move forward frustrate Native Americans, for it is the ignorance of history that defines their present situation and continues to threaten their future. Forgetting and ignoring the past is not an option, but Native Americans live in a white man's world. Their challenge lies in enlightening non-Natives about their history, traditions, cultures and rights as distinct governments, while creating a prosperous future on their own terms. Entrepreneurial Spirit Entrepreneurs, such as Margaret Rodriguez, demonstrate the strong desire of Native Americans to succeed. A member of the Salt River Pima-Maricopa Indian community in Arizona, Rodriguez started her company, Au Authum Kí, 12 years ago when bankers refused to lend her money. Her company generated $24 million in revenue for 2003. Au Authum Kí translates into "the people's home." Rodriguez's projects have ranged from a $1.9-million contract for rebuilding a high-tech structure to house a weather squadron at a Tucson Air Force Base to having her workers camp within the Grand Canyon, where they installed portable classrooms on the Havasupai reservation. She also started a charity last year that builds homes for members of her tribal community who can't afford them. The entrepreneurial spirit isn't unique to Rodriguez as the economic muscle of Native Americans continues to grow, according to the Selig Center for Economic Growth and the U.S. Census Bureau. Americans who identified themselves solely as Native Americans and Alaska Natives numbered 2.4 million and 4.1 million when they identified with one or more races, according to the 2000 census. Most Native Americans, 43 percent, lived in the West, while 11 states comprised 62 percent of the Native-American population. Despite their small population, Native Americans are expected to see their buying power jump from $47.7 billion in 2004 to $65.6 billion in 2009. Native Americans will account for 0.6 percent of total U.S. buying power in 2009, up from 0.5 percent in 1990, according to the Selig Center. The 2001 Survey of Minority Owned Business Enterprises by the Census Bureau reported 197,300 Native-American- and Alaska-Native-owned businesses in the United States that employed 298,700 people. F
What do the letters "SA" stand for, when used as a prefix in a Latin American business name? For example, a bank name might be listed as "Banco Rural, SA". I have seen the letters used all over the place, but never figured out what they meant. Thanks!! Thanks, IB- your answer makes sense. And I meant suffix, not prefix-DOH! I saw it used in Central America while I lived there, and have seen it since in Central and South American business names.

Do some fans realize that once USA won't be a super power anymore, lists of the GOAT will change? Next day after the so called "empire" (thanks to Hitler who ruined Europe's domination of centuries) all these American based lists not just in boxing, but from comedy and science to literature and business, lists of the most beautiful people or most beautiful cities and so on, such as ESPN's and Ring Magazine's when it comes to boxing, that many peeps in here use as a valid argument to claim American or racial supremacy on the sport, will change dramatically and peeps like Ali, Greb or Robinson etc will be replaced by the ones who will rule the economy and business world (China most likely) and USA won't be able to organize boxing parties in Las Vegas anymore and the capital of capitalism and such shows will be Beijing or Moscow etc? Some delusional and not well educated people, might call this a racist or anti-American post, while it's plain logic and history (check what happened to way greater empires of the past as Greece, Rome, England, France or even USSR, tell me where is their power now) Do you realize that ESPN and Ring Magazines lists have no value at all and one day will be smashed like a tower made by sand ? Do you realize that Olympic medals and boxing titles will always matter more than anything else ? :) Do you realize that once China takes over and the ring magazine which now might sale 4 million copies in USA, will the be named "Tsi Liun" magazine (i pulled off this name out of nowhere i admit lol) and will sale 40 million copies inside Chinese market and Chinese will name Manny Pacquiao or fellow Asians as Fighting Haranda, Galaxy and so on the greatest boxers of all time only so they can keep their "clients" happy? What American guy of the ones we have in here would buy Ring Mag if it featured 90% of the time boxers like Manny, Calzaghe or Klitschkos? None to few is the answer, these lists it's pure business really! I hope some guys are smart enough to see what i am saying here! Alex,so you believe if Rome which lasted almost 500 years, or England or Ancient Greece could fall, USA will never fall, will always be the most powerful nation of the world? This what you say? Isn't 70% of the money inside American economy today, money Americans should return to China my friend?Am i mistaken?
Where can I get list of business categories? I want to create a list of business categories and sub-categories that are most common/standard. For example: Restaurant --> American --> Steak House ... or Business Services --> Consulting --> Management Consulting... I've seen many sites that categorize businesses this way (e.g. yellowpages.com or yahoo.com) I'm hoping there is some standard categorization with tools for importing/creating them in some common databases. Thanks!

How can I get a list of American companies that are in Melbourne? I want to know about American companies that are doing businesses in Melbourne, Australia. I need to see their career opportunities.
Is it my idea or the forum has become too "patriotic" American? A question for the American patriots? Ok in a boxing forum that everybody is justified for their bias or racism, either because he is too American patriotic who can't help it but insult other nations or races in the name of America or boxing, or just too proud that he can't help it but to create multiple accounts to insult others, or he/she believes in racial unity for his race, but condemn as a "blatant racist" anyone else of another race who might think the same for his/her race, the easy solution is one, the only racist is ME, the son of Satan and the evil racist Euro............... LMAO (Sorry i had to laugh) Nowadays in America's Boxing and Basketball that the white American man, has extinct for whatever political-social-economical reason, being black American or Hispanic or even Asian lately with the rise of a couple Filipino boxers and claim "Patriotic American" sounds so touching, to the point i had some tears in my eyes the other day. So my question is plain and simple, in the rest sports, especially the ones like hockey, baseball, soccer, volleyball, or every winter sport and extreme sport there is, are you that patriotic for your country and you feel the same intense feeling to root for the American athlete who "represents" you? Even when American soccer or baseball team will play against Nigeria, China, Mexico or Cuba for example? When USA putted a man on the moon or invented all these things, you still take pride being an American? When you see the list of the 320 something Nobel Prizes that Americans have won, the lists of richest Americans, the Oscar awards, your government cabinets for decades now, the men in uniform of the highest level of your country's military, 95% plus of your governors, all these American business owners and authors who influence the world culturally, you still take the same pride as American as you do with your American boxers? I am not saying that in the fields i mentioned, there have not been contributions from every American, but it seems to me that most fields of society in America have been exactly like American boxing, but just the other way around................"Pavlik" is the man and "Mayweather, Sanchez or Donaire" the slight minority, feel what i am saying? Or maybe all these TV Series as Lost, Sopranos, Monk, Friends, Sex and the City, or all these Hollywood movies and stars or the teams of America in the Summer&Winter Olympics that they show us here in Europe, are products of propaganda, it could be the case too, who knows? It would be interesting to see some honest answers, other than calling me racist. We have been there, done that, let's try something new for a change :)
need help with name for African American website? Hi, I want to create a site for African American businesses and services. The site will let African Americans be able to advertise their business. I am creating it for my local city. But, I want to compile like for instance, if someone is looking for someone to do taxes or looking for someone who cuts down trees, then I'll have that business owner listed on my site. Its an effort to support black businesses and services. I want to include other information and venture out on other things, so I didn't just want to strictly call it for example: blackbusiness.com (because I want to offer and include other things too) I don't know what should I call the site and I didnt like what I came up with, so I am looking for some ideas and a catchy slogan or something. Any ideas/help is greatly appreciated

Quick true or false business questions? 1. Both managers and workers cite low managerial ethics as a major cause of american businesses' competitive woes. TRUE OR FALSE. 2. Employees, just like children, can observe behavior and adopt standards of right and wrong. TRUE OR FALSE. 3. If a partner in a limited partnership dies, the partnership ceases to exist. TRUE OR FLASE. 4. A list of "watchdogs" ( include customers, socially conscious investors, and environmentalists) monitor how well firms enforce their ethical and social responsibility policies. TRUE OR FALSE.
To the "start a business" types in the Politics section, how would it help the American economy? Do you not realize that over the past 20-some years, the US government has encouraged business to take American jobs out of the country? The few businesses that make anything in America only do so out of the goodness of their heart. The rest are practically encouraged to move out. How are people going to have any money to BUY YOUR SERVICES OR PRODUCT when you start a business then? One way or the other, an economy totally based on the service industry CANNOT remain stable forever! If we don't make anything, America cannot participate in international trade! You can tell poor people to start all the maid service companies and landscaping companies, but in time, there will be a glut of service industry jobs, followed by a population that has no way of paying for them. Some basic facts about the economy: 1. We need production jobs in America. 2. We need government oversight. 3. Service industry jobs will stagnate an economy. 4. Government needs to provide social services and stop giving everything to the defense contractors. 5. Corporations need to stop being worshiped. 6. Forbes needs to eliminate their "Richest List."
Which Australian universities have a partner American university to transfer from? I live in America, but want to study in Australia. I'd end up going to college in America for the first few years, but then I'd want to transfer into an Australian school. Which universities are linked between America and Australia and would make it easy to transfer between programs? I think it's called sisters schools or partner schools, but which ones are out there? If you could give me a list of all of the American universities that have transfer options, that would be great. ^^ I'm not talking about studying abroad, but transferring schools permanently. The major I'm interested in is Business, Marketing.

As of June of 2009, what Arab countries can an American citizen visit for tourism? The Department of State lists Saudi Arabia, Yemen, Iraq, Lebanon, Sudan, Algeria, Syria and Somalia as places that Americans shouldn't visit (some more obvious than others). I wish people would help me confirm if all of this Arabic speaking countries or any others are dangerous for a normal, middle class tourist with no business interests or government contacts in the region.
Question for small biz owners- which is a better name for my brokerage business? I have years and years of experience in small business, franchising as well as buying/selling businesses. I have worked with many businesse brokers and in general I am very disappointed by their "non-personal" "used-card-selling"approac. I beleive that a broker should always think about what is best for the client-even if that means not listing the business and advising client of value enhancing strategies. I am passionate about working with samll biz owners and truly helping them achieve their goal, may it be transfering ownership to enjoy retirement or acquiring a new business and living American dream. I want to now start my own business in business brokerage. i am afraid that the word "business broker" has negative connotation and debating if i should name my co. "Reliance business brokers" or "Reliance Business group" the later does not instantly reveal what I can do for the business owners, so i am not sure which one is the right choice. any thoughts/input will be truly appreciat

If my great grandmother was 100% Cherokee Indian, am I "Indian" enough to list myself as native american? I own a small business and many times I have to complete paper work asking for the ethnicity of the employees and the owner, I have never put myself as Indian, but some people have said I should. I just don't feel right about saying I am Native American, since it's somewhat far-removed.
How come I can't find the American Christian Lobbyists Association on yahoo, but it is listed on Google? Also, when I type in ACLA, it pops up on Google's 4th page. This is nowhere to be found on yahoo. This concerns me because I use yahoo for our e-mail addresses for the ACLA and the American Christian Lobbyist Association and I have had dozens of our members inquire why they cannot find our organization on Yahoo, but the can find it easily on Google. Maybe you can add us. It would be appreciated as I have been very satisfied with making yahoo my home page for both personal and business for several years. Thank you for your consideration and time.
Is there a website that lists all wanted and caught scammers in Nigeria? I am being charged with theft due to a Nigerian Business Scam. My friend in Nigeria had someone in the same state as me send me money via western union then I was to send that money to Nigeria to his boss. The other american ordered furniture from this person and never received their product. Now I am the one having to go to court over this and have spent 3 weeks in a county jail. I understand this boss is in government hands and would like to find something in writing about this or about this person. I don't know how to go about doing this, so I can prove my innocence. I was assured all was legal and I thought I was just helping a brother in the Lord.
Does anyone know of any African-American owned businesses in Queen Creek, AZ? I need to interview some for a story (journalism) I'm writing. If anyone finds a website with a list, please post it because I cannot find any.
Is anyone actually "Proud to be an American" anymore? It's quite obvious that our country has become somewhat of a joke. To other countries, societies, cultures, and even to ourselves. We are trillions of dollars in debt, we let obvious murderers go free, we are too politically correct, you can't say anything without offending somebody, our "structured" government can't even handle itself, it's impossible to trust anybody in higher power, the number of unemployed is staggering, our education system has dived in rankings, many of us abuse the system and the system abuses us.. yet we still love to judge and stick our nose in other people's business. The list goes on.. Society and government tell us to be proud to be an American, but quite frankly i'm just embarrassed. Does anyone else feel this way?

Why are there so many online home business scams advertised on job career search web sites? I have noticed that more than 50% of the jobs listed on career job search websites are online business scams. Why do these companies like hotjobs, monster, yahoo, etc. allow this? This just interferes with the already difficult process of finding a job for most Americans.
Where can I find official information on American companies like shareholders etc. is there an official list? Official information on different companies on an official site like Chamber of Commerce or Trade Register. I don't know if there is an official site were all these firms are registered or do I have to search for different companies in different states. Why is bad that companies are delisting and going to the LSE? I am writing my thesis on Sarbanes-Oxley and for one of my submissions (5 submissions 30-60pg total thesis) I am discussing how companies are choosing to not list in the NYSE because compliance to SOX is to cumbersome and costly. is the united states the land of the free of just a shining example of hypocrasy? the US prides itself on being founded for freedom from imperial rule, all men being created equal and so on, we all know it has taken a while for those ideals to take root and some still have yet to do so. i was wondering is the US really as free as it claims, when in the past it has demonstated to only cherish democracy when it was favourable. im refering mainly to the us manipulation of foreign governments particularly in south america. An example being the attempted coup against Hugo Chavez in venezuala in 2002 (worth noting he is a socialist, very popular with the poor and not so fond of american business) and the removal of the democratically elected government of chilie in the 70's to be replaced by a facist military junta under the now infamous augusto pinochet. The list goes on, so what does this say about the land of the free? Has the classical conquering imperialism of the last millenium been replaced by a far more sophisticated method of control?
How many bars has The American Society of Composers, Authors and Publishers sued this year? They often sue businesses for copyright infringement. Is there a list or something that says how many bars they've sued in 2010-2011 for this?
What are the views of the American Independent party? More specifically a list of their views because they list themselves as right-wing. And if republicans are conservatives then why do they favor big businesses over the little guy? Can someone list me the beliefs of the Democrats, Republicans and Independents?

With so-called terror watch-lists (millions of blacklisted Americans) does this create 2nd class citizenship? especially since these lists will be shared with domestic businesses and obviously government entities with instructions on how to handle the "threat"

I want my uncle to sponsor her to work for his company, in order to get her a green card. However, I want to know what is the LOWEST job that can sponsor you for a green card? My aunt owns a beauty company, and my uncle owns a car business. List of minor jobs that can sponsor you to gain a green card, or permanent residence? THANKS!!
Should I settle with American Express? I got a credit card with American Express for my business. The kind of card it was one that you pay the balance in full every month. I was able to do that until my business went under. I could see that I was not going to be able pay the balance in full, so I called Amex and explained my situation to them. I told them that I would be able to send them a monthly payment of 500 until the 3,000 balance was paid in full. They would not except that and told me to get a loan or borrow from family or friends to pay it in full. I did not have the ability to get a loan or borrow from family. So I started sending them 500 a month every month, but meanwhile they were charging me almost 200 a month in late fees and then there were finance charges on top of that! I still kept making monthly payments, but was unable to continue to make 500 and lowered the monthly payment to 100. Meanwhile, even though I was making payments, they sent me to collections cause the card agreement was to pay in full. It's not like I just walked away from the debt. I really tried in good faith to get this paid off. However, with the late fees and finance charges, I racked up another 2,000 totaling $5,000. Now it is on my credit and I have been back and forth with the debt collector. I ended up not dealing with the debt collector and Amex started calling my mother's house who lives in a completely different state then myself and told her all my business! I never even listed my mother or her number on the application, so I don't know how they got her number!! I just got a call from an attorney the other day wanting to settle and said they would settle for 2,500, but I have to pay that up front. I don't have 2,500 but I could come up with 1,000 maybe 1,500. I have great credit otherwise and pay all my other bills/credit cards on time with no problem. Should I offer the attorney less and settle?
Do you think anti-American groups partner with environmentalists to push policies DESIGNED to hurt USA Economy? Do these groups support Obama? Do these groups specifically target American businesses, and the Chamber of Commerce? If these groups got a list of everyone in the Chamber of Commerce that they would use Saul Alinsky tactics to destroy them one by one? Bill Ayers' Weather Underground is an example of an Anti-American group. PS: I favor sensible regulations to prevent/punish any corporation that pollutes the environment. I am against excessively punishing corporations because their assembly line plugs into an AC outlet. justagrandma....what question are you answering?
Do they have these electives in American high schools? At my Australian school I'm doing these and I'm wondering if these are also offered in American schools because I never see them listed when American teens list their electives. My school does (to name some) Media studies - the study of how media works with and affects society, stereotypes etc Modern history (my school doesn't offer ancient unfortunately) Business studies Psychology Food and hospitality studies Tech studies (woodwork basically) Childhood studies (child development, parenting etc) Information technology Legal studies Manda: I'm not saying Australian high schools are special at all. I'm just asking if they also have these electives in American high schools.
Why are American taxpayers being forced to support Latino separatist group? In 2006 and again in 2008, the Latino group known as La Raza (The Race) was given $15 million in U.S. federal grants. La Raza also received an additional $4 million in so-called 'earmarks' tucked into the 2005 Housing Bill, which our Congress passed and President Bush signed. Considering the ethnocentric agenda of La Raza, in giving federal funds to this group, the American taxpayer is being forced to support a race-based separatist organization. La Raza openly supports pushing all but Latino Americans out of a portion of the United States (i.e. ethnic cleansing), they call for 'Reconquista' or the re-conquest of the American Southwest by Mexico, and the establishment of 'Atzlan' which is the utopian all-Latino version of the American Southwestern states. La Raza’s motto is “For the Race, everything, outside the Race…Nothing!” Past keynote speakers at the annual National Council of La Raza Conference have included George Bush, Karl Rove, L.A. Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa, Bill Clinton, John McCain, and Barack Obama. The fact that U.S. Senators and Presidents have addressed the group, is a strong indication that this nation is being subverted at the very highest levels. If La Raza was a white supremacist group with equally deep pockets, the U.S. government would place them on a terrorist watch list, infiltrate them with undercover FBI agents, and subject them to constant harassment by the IRS. Eventually, the group's leaders would be jailed and the group itself would be rendered irrelevant. However, because La Raza is a Latino supremacist group, Congress offers them financial support. One of La Raza's biggest supporters is Sen. Harry Reid (D-NV). In 2001, Reid asked the Senate Appropriations Committee for $5 million to help further their goals. That same year, La Raza gave Sen. Reid their Capital Award for "his commitment to advance legislation priorities of the Latino community." Reid in turn praised La Raza by saying: "La Raza is like the biblical David, fighting all these Goliaths." Taxpayer funds are also funneled to La Raza through the Department of Health and Human Services, the Environmental Protection Agency, and even NASA. Tax dollars are hidden in these government agencies, earmarked to be specifically given away to La Raza. Inside the halls of Congress, the practice is known as discretionary funding...In the real world it is known as money laundering. In 2008, Rep. Barney Frank (D-MA) earmarked an additional $20 million for La Raza. He hid the appropriation in the FHA Housing Stabilization and Homeowners Retentions Act of 2008. In 2005, $7.9 million was stolen from the American taxpayers and given out to Latino-only charter schools in the form of U.S. Department of Education grants. La Raza operates 100 such schools across the country. The following is a list of a few of those schools: -La Academia Semillas del Pueblo (Los Angeles) -Atzlan Academy (Tucson, AZ) -Mexicayotl Academy (Nogales, AZ) -The Dolores Huerta Prepatory High School (Pueblo, CO) -Academia Cesar Chavez Charter School (St. Paul, MN) These schools teach Latino culture only, the Spanish language, the re-conquest of the American Southwest, ethnic cleansing and the establishment of the mythical Atzlan, and even Aztec math...Again, all taught on your dime! According to the Capital Research Center, La Raza has assets well in excess of $50 million. This same group reports that La Raza spends about $1 million annually on lobbying and fundraising. Can you imagine the Congress appropriating money to the Ku Klux Klan? While those scenarios both sound absurd, the support that our elected officials are giving to the racist group known as La Raza is no different. One has to wonder, if the KKK offered extremely cheap labor to unscrupulous American businesses and potential votes to equally unscrupulous politicians...Would Congress fund whites-only charter schools? http://www.examiner.com/x-21818-Virginia-Beach-Conservative-Examiner~y2009m10d13-American-taxpayers-being-forced-to-support-Latino-separatist-group

But yet if an immigrant comes to live in this country they can get loans to start a business, get food and housing assistance and the list goes on. American Express is sooo cheap? Visa decided it won't charge transaction fees if you use card to donate for the disaster happened in Haiti, on other hand American Express said they will still charge you their high fees if you donate to any other charity other than the list they provided.... at my business I do not accept American Express.
American Billionaire's Hiding their wealth to avoid paying taxes .. Unusual or Unique ? UBS doesn't think so? http://www.guardian.co.uk/business/2008/nov/12/ubs-useconomy-tax-fraud The department of justice alleges that 20,000 American clients have been systematically using Swiss bank accounts to conceal $20bn of assets from the Internal Revenue Service. So my question is this.. A) Why haven't they made the list of American offenders public? B) Why haven't there been charges... against them? if that was one of us we'd have everything we owned seized... is there a two class system at work here ? of course it is illegal to hide income? are you all kidding or just dumb enough to actually believe that.. RICO act, racketeering, that's what they grabbed the mob bosses back in the day with.. you can't hide income it's illegal.. capital gains=income. Absolutely this breaks laws and again, if you or I were engaged in this we would be sitting in prison. I can't believe I'm getting hammered at on this????? are you people crazy? so it's ok for the extreme rich to avoid paying taxes, but those lazy good for nothing working stiffs that bought houses without fixed interest rates are the bane of our civilization ?
Career websites/firms or businesses run by African Americans? Please list them? Never knew I would have to resort to the race factor until I realized that the vast majority of corporate America doesn't really have very significant ground for African Americans save for blue collar/back breaking jobs regardless of education and experience. Karren G, if you have information to the aforementioned effect I'd be glad if you listed them down as long as this is not part of an MLM/Pyramid and I have enuff sense to snuff such schemes.
Is the North American employment blacklist real ? When you quit/get fired from "X" amount of jobs, is there a list that you get put on letting businesses know about your work history? I heard that this list prevents you from getting hired by anyone for a certain amount of time. thanks in advance (=

A Shipbuilder needs a government loan to build a fleet of oil tankers. 4. A business wants to market a new medicine for the treatment of heart disease. 5. A businessperson complains that a competitior's product is being falsley advertised. A. Federal Maritime Board B. Federal Trade Commission C. Bureau of Foreign Commerce D. National Bureau of Standards E. Department of Energy F. Securities and Exchange commission
How did Bush and republicans trickle down on the american people..can you list the ways? the top ten ways bush and republicans trickled down on the american people are: for example...if corporation X gets huge tax cuts and loopholes, and the top execs get huge tax cuts also and the corp and the execs made googobs of extra money as a result, and then proceeding to keep that going for years living large...(while the budget deficit grew), and then they ran X corporation into the ground...making bad business decisions (that also ruined a good chunk of americans..requiring more aid to the poor), and then the execs of corporation X went to the american treasury and asked for a 70 billion dollar bailout and proceeded to give bonuses to the executives and paid dividende to stockholders (including the executives), and then ........later on say that they can't make any money unless the Bush tax cuts are renewed...so that they can keep even more of their salaries...(As the bridges crumble...and the deficit grows),......anyway...I digress. Just list how many ways you think that Bush and republicans have gotten the american people coming and going?
Are there any women who would make the list of 100 most important Americans? My husband and I were discussing this and we could not come up with a single woman to include on a "top 100" list. I think this is partly because of the discrimination women faced throughought American History, but I don't know if this is the whole answer. We considered people like Gloria Steinheim and Susan B. Anthony, but they didn't make the cut. We also looked at women such as Abigail Adams and Martha Washington, but their contributions were in support roles. The top 100 list would probably feature people in Politics (heavy emphasis on Presidents), business, science, and inventions. "Lifestyle" personalities such as actors and athletes probably wouldn't make the list unless they crossed real barriers. This is something we've been tossing around for a few days and I thought I'd open it up to the Yahoo! Answers community.
My dad rents from Chappy's which is American Rental now, they threatened to beat him up, what can he do? Legal My parents rent from Chappy's Rent To Own in Indiana which is now American Rental. Well, they were late on their payment. My mom called to talk to them and they said it was fine, but then went out to my parents house and threatened to beat up my dad. Well, he was gonna fight them and they kept threatening him and getting smart with him about things even though they were gonna pay them, they were just a little late. Isn't there something you can do as a customer when a business threatens you like that? I mean I don't think that's a good business. They even used deragatory comments about family members we listed on the application. What can we do legally?

Isn't it sort of sad when the American public asks Santa for a present and when they get it, they find it was? a horrible mistake? 70% of the American public backed Bush in the invasion of Iraq, falling for the transparent lies of WMD and "mushroom clouds" over our cites. They got their wish and in return got over 4,000 plastic bags containing the remains of young people who died in vain. During the Bush years and continuing today is the republican chant of personal responsibility and no national healthcare. This "personal responsibility" was the call the neo cons called "starving the beast", the idea that if they could gut the treasury that Social Security and Medicare would die a natural death due to lack of funding. The public backed this insanity by re-electing Bush who went about the business of making sure that tax cuts for the corporations and wealthy individuals would lead to shortfalls in taxes that would put a stop to these programs once and for all. They would kill the FDR ideas without firing a shot. Now these items on the American public Santa list are becoming reality. These programs will now die due to lack of revenue and the "beast" will be starved. This republican dream come true will turn out to be like when they asked Santa for the Iraq war. The republicans are winning and the only "socialized" health care we have is about to disappear, leaving the elderly and disabled to fend for themselves. Like the body bags from Iraq that 70% of our people wanted, they are about to understand what it is like to live in a society that is NOT a socialist society, something like Mexico where you can die in the gutter if you don't have plenty of money, Congratulation. You win and we all lose.
Buy High, Sell Higher, stocks in american markets listed any of choice? Buy High, Sell Higher How many times have you heard the phrase, "buy low, sell high"? This is the conventional wisdom in the investment world, but research shows you shouldn't be concerned with that part about buying low. Let's walk through this one step at a time. Research shows that the best-performing stocks make new highs before they make their major leaps in price. Moreover, stocks at new highs tend to continue moving higher, while stocks making new lows tend to continue to move even lower. This is a concept many investors find difficult to accept. They assume it's too late to buy a stock that's reached an all-time high. But the great paradox of the stock market, as Investor's Business Daily Founder William O'Neil calls it, is "What seems too high and risky to most investors is likely to continue rising. And what seems low and cheap usually goes down." Think about it. If a stock goes from $15 to $50 it has to reach new highs at $16, $17, $18 and so on. Stocks making new lows, on the other hand, manifest inherent weaknesses. Just by applying the laws of supply and demand you can see why new highs are important. When stocks advance, they're demonstrating growing demand as investors raise their expectations about the company. On the other hand, stocks making new lows are usually afflicted by just the opposite: sagging expectations. Yes, there's plenty of stocks in the bargain basement, but they're there because the merchandise, so to speak, isn't hot. Some stocks may have very strong fundamentals or great stories, yet they don't go up because there's little investor interest. So while you wait for a stock to be discovered -- if it ever does -- other stocks are moving into the spotlight. The spotlight, in a way, is the new-highs list, such as the one that appears daily in IBD and is explained later. Stocks reaching new highs tell you professional investors are moving in and pushing prices higher
How should government regulated a businesses practices? Okay let’s start from the beginning. With the dying job market there will be a increased interest in alternative ways to make money for the average American. The option most Americans will probably be looking toward will be new/small businesses. The government’s red tape combined with the competition makes it virtually impossible for a new business to survive. If the government were to lessen their control over small businesses by means of zoning laws, permits, inspection costs, and taxes, the possibility of creating a new business would become a more viable option for mainstream Americans. Though American should not expect to become super rich, rather instead hope to make enough to replace the income they lost. For the business that don’t just survive but rather thrive this would increase the amount of jobs available for those who can’t handle their own business. For when a business grows to a certain size the government should create a new type of government job. This new position is one that people are trained in the fields of economic decision making and smart business planning. Once a business grows to the point where it employs say 1000 people, a person trained for this position is sent by the government to monitor and advise the company and find the best ways for the company to not go under, preventing the loss of jobs to many Americans. Though this person has no actual power and is strictly an advisor. When a company grows to ten times this size (10,000 employees) a higher ranking government employee, with a higher level of training comes in. This government employee has more power than the previous. This one has voting power of ten percent of the company, and also has the authority to release information about the companies decision making to the government and recommend whether the government should intervene more with the company. If the previous government employee recommends more government intervention and the government’s review of information provided is reasonable enough then the government should launch an investigation into the company and it past business practices. If it turns out that the company is at risk of going under or outsourcing then the government should create a list of possibilities for preventing the loss of American jobs and sit down with the company owner(s)/ Executive officers and attempt to determine a viable option. If a viable option can be reached and the owner(s)/ Executive officers refuse to take it then the company must pay 50% of the salary to all employees that are to be laid off until they are able to find another position paying more than 60 % of their previous income, or pay for the employee to be retrained in the field of the employees choice. If no viable option can be found then there is no way that it may be prevented and therefore will be no penalty as long as the company gives adequate notice to its employees and stockholders. I believe this is a very fair way government could get companies to compromise on what's best for the company as well as what's best for the employees. And therefore best for the economy. What do you think? You don't have to read this^^^^ If you don't want to, just tell me you plan instead.
Looking for a list of black businesses online? My friend is looking for a list of black businesses online to add to this directory http://www.blackbusinessservices.com/ . It is a free/paid directory and he wants to unite all the African American and Black Canadians websites on one site.
Reflections on African-American Culture? My cousin and I were recently compiling a list on African-American culture. Things that were common to Black households as we were growing up in the 60's through the 80's. Like I remember my mother used to keep frying grease in an old Crisco can on the stove. And my dad used to keep his valuables in that blue velvet Crown Royal bag with the gold tassel draw strings. And hot combs and blow-out kits! Those yellow spindles that you had to put in the middle of 45's to play them on your turntable. And getting spankings with those orange hot wheel tracks. A calendar with MLK's picture from some local business every year. Collecting S&H Green Stamps. I don't think we ever actually got anything from that damn catalog! Anyone else have these recollections? Or some of their own? Hey, you don't even have to be African-American. It should just be something most people could identify with.
Atheists, do you really think that Christianity is the foundation for modern American conservatism? OK, I'm obviously not Christian. I'll outline common reasons for being conservative, NONE of which have anything to do with religion: 1. Anti-white racism and discrimination. I'm white (European descent), and will not support modern liberalism's hate-the-white-man mentality. Affirmative Action, racial preferences in most workplaces that favor non-whites, special advantages for minority owned businesses, and the list goes on and on. Furthermore, the most numerous and most common form of inter-racial violence is black on white. Yes, I know about the white racism of the past, but I won't apologize for what someone else's ancestors did before I was born. 2. Social conservatism - I believe in sexual morality, family values, and disciplining children. This has NOTHING to do with religion. Even if you could prove to me that God doesn't exist, it still doesn't mean that I'll embrace the decay of our society. 3. $$$ - Working people don't want their tax dollars going to support illegal immigrants, people that live on welfare, ghetto queens, etc. 4. Illegal immigration - Do you expect someone to say "Gosh, many parts of the Bible has been disproven. I guess we should let America be overrun by 3rd worlders."? Illegals are screwing the American working class over BIG TIME, along with the tax payers that have to support many of them. Blacks and Hispanics are much more religious about their Christianity than whites are, yet most of them are liberal Democrats. Why? Because the libs give them welfare, special advantages, justification for commiting violent crimes against whites, and much more. So please, get off the "We hate Christianity because it's keeping us from our liberal Marxist utopia" BS. Most of you sound like upper middle class young white college kids that haven't tasted some of the things that I outlined above. You will as you get out into the real world. AND, when you wake up and become conservative, religion won't have a flippin' thing to do with it. This is a serious question, and I'm wondering how you'll respond. Don't give me anti-Bible stuff, or parrot what you're sociology teachers "taught" you.
Where can I find a list of social/cultural differences among people? I am teaching a business communications class at the high school level and the students are learning about different cultures and how everyone can communicate effectively. I want to find a list of societal differences in different cultures. I have been searching Google, but I can't find anything that I want. I'm looking for a short list of interesting facts. As an example, Americans generally shake hands when meeting someone for the first time. In France, it is customary to give a kiss on the cheek. If the examples are funny it would be great, but not necessary.
Will car manufacturing be added to the list of jobs Americans won’t do? If the stakes are high for General Motors Corporation are stakes for their employees any less? If increasing revenue and holding down overhead is good for the health of a corporation. Then why is it bad for a employee of that corporation to want the same thing for themselves? If the median price of a home is $246,500. What is the median price of a home in China? “No business which depends for existence on paying less than living wages to its workers has any right to continue in this country” Franklin D. Roosevelt
When I ring for a doctors appointment the receptionist asks what the appointment is for? reposting this because it went to an american yahoo are they allowed to do that?? ask for its for????? help..please on hyphenation american? have this assignment: in ways what hyphenating your etnicity/race w/ American (e.g. Irish-American) CANNOT result in bitterness and prejudice towards others? Also, why should we continue hyphenation (this from a perspective decades ago)? unfortunately, i found more reasons on how prejuduce could arise from hyphenation. these are all the reasons i have so far, im hoping that i could add on to the list: 1) freedom of religion and speech 2) a method of showing pride from their original country and identification 3) {not so sure abt this one} economic reasons [e.g. knowing a preponderance of a race in a area helps business owners decide to open up in that area) i have some other minor ones, but they are sort of repitive..is there anything i could add to this list. thanks

Who needs a private sector when we have a Clinton make our health-care choices? Who needs a private sector when we have a Clinton make our health-care choices? The new Hillary health-care plan is very different from the old 1993-1994 Hillary plan. It is far slyer, and far cleverer, far more well-packaged. The same arguments that applied to the old Hillary plan do not necessarily apply to the new plan. But the new health plan ends up in the same place as the old health plan — with the government running everything. Here are the primary problems with the new Hillary health plan: What Entitlement Crisis? As everyone should know by now, our nation faces a dramatic entitlements crisis that will play out over the next 30 years. Federal spending has been hovering in a fairly stable manner, around 20-percent of GDP (Gross Domestic Product), for over 50 years now, since the early 1950s. But the Federal government’s own official projections show that over the next 30 years or so, federal spending will soar to 40-percent of GDP, requiring total federal taxes as a percent of GDP to double. This is due to the exploding costs of the entitlement programs we already have, primarily Medicare, Medicaid, and Social Security. Hillary Clinton and other Democrats respond to this overwhelming crisis by proposing that we not reform any of the existing entitlements. Rather, they suggest that we endorse massive new entitlements, including for instance, National Health Insurance. Policy suggestions like this force one to wonder, are the democrats numerically illiterate? The Individual Mandate Hillary Clinton’s plan starts out very simply: she will mandate under federal law that everyone in America must buy health insurance, and by this she supposedly achieves universal coverage. The catch, of course, is that once you start down the road with this mandate, you end up with government-run health care. If you are going to require people to buy health insurance, then the next question which follows is, exactly what do they have to buy to fulfill this requirement? Suppose they buy the Fraternity Plan that pays only for unlimited beer and pizza during the weekends? Have they satisfied the requirement? The serious point is if you are going to require people to buy health insurance, then you are going to have to specify exactly what health-plan people will have to buy to satisfy this requirement. So the government has gone from telling you that you need health insurance, to telling you what kind of health-insurance coverage or plan you must have. And with Hillary, we can assume that this will be no basic, minimum plan. But Hillary continues to insist that this is not government-run health care. And this, of course, is only the beginning. Special interests will swarm to get their favored coverage in the required plan. People will merrily get used to billing everything in the plan to the insurance company. And costs will rise. People will start complaining that they can’t afford paying for this costly coverage, and whining that the government must do something. The government itself will already be paying for a lot of this coverage, and budgets will therefore explode. So the government will do something to control costs. It will start rationing. It will start telling people what services and treatments they can have, and when. It will start delaying access to new innovations. It will squeeze payments to health care providers so much that the providers will start rationing what they provide. Government guidelines will start dictating to these providers that they ration care, and how to do it. After a while, people start to realize, “hey, we have government run health care.” Don’t doubt it. This is exactly what happens with every other country that tries to mandate or provide coverage through government. They realize ultimately there must be some way to control costs. There is no market in these plans to control costs. So the government must do it through the only alternative – rationing. Indeed (we will see below), Hillary’s plan already includes the machinery for this rationing. It doesn’t help that a small band of too clever conservatives have been supporting just such an individual mandate since 1993-94, when broad objections from conservatives defeated their plan. Congratulations to these folks today. Hillary Clinton has adopted their plan, just as they were forewarned. The Employer Tax Since workers would now have to buy insurance under the Hillary plan; employers would have to pay for it wherever possible. All large companies would be required to provide health coverage for their workers (a plan, again, specified by the government), or pay a tax to the government. Already paying among the highest corporate tax rates in the industrialized world, this is just what our corporations need — another tax. Once the politicians get used to raiding this corporate cookie jar, the tax will soon be higher than the corporate income tax. When that tax burden leads to unemployment, no problem, we will just raise taxes on the rich again, and pay for more welfare. All of this will just improve the economy, the Clintons promise. The Refundable Tax Credit Where employers don’t pay for health coverage, the government will. Hillary proposes a refundable tax credit for the purchase of health insurance that will leave workers paying no more than a specified percentage of their incomes for the coverage. Hillary’s campaign is already calling this “A Net Tax Cut for American Taxpayers.” The problem with this is that the bottom 40-percent of income earners do not pay any income taxes, and the middle 20-percent now pay for very little (this is the end result of all those Republican tax cuts for the rich all these years). But the tax credit is refundable, meaning that if you don’t have enough tax liability to take advantage of the credit, the government will still send you a check for the entire credit. So the tax credit here is not giving you back your own tax money. It is giving you back other people’s tax money. So this is not, in fact, a tax cut. It is a new spending program, a new entitlement program, in fact. We already have a huge program called Medicaid to pay for health coverage for people who are too poor to pay for it themselves. The federal government is now spending close to $250 billion on this program, in addition to probably another $150 billion from the states. And these costs are just projected to explode and explode again over the next 30 years. In other words, we already can’t afford the Medicaid program as it currently stands. But what Hillary is proposing with these tax credits is a massive expansion of it. And we are back to the democratic chimeras again. Unfortunately, some conservative Republicans have recently toyed around with the idea of refundable tax credits for the purchase of health insurance as well. They have rightly been trying to change tax code incentives to get workers to own their own health insurance rather than relying on employers. Realizing, however, that the tax changes would do nothing for at least half of all workers who now pay little or no income tax, they have been considering various refundable plans to expand the help to lower income workers. The fallacy here is trying to provide assistance to the poor, and to low income workers, through the tax code. This is what Medicaid is for, and lawmakers should focus on helping those with lower incomes through reforming that program. But Hillary is not done with the refundable tax credits. She would provide such credits as well to small businesses who buy health insurance for their workers, paying for as much as 50-percent of premiums for firms with fewer than 25 employees. And she would also bail out big companies, who are now being crushed by foolish past promises to pay for health insurance for their retirees, with still more tax credits. In return, corporate big shots from these companies publicly intone that indeed, it is time for national health insurance. A better solution would be to just have the government take over these already socialized companies and finish running them into the ground. Government-Run Health Care Hillary wisely calls her plan the American Health Choices Plan. Accordingly, everyone will be “free” to choose one of the health insurance options in the Federal Employee Health Benefits Plan. But how is this not government-run health care? No company gets on the list of plans in the FEHBP without first complying with a host of federal requirements and controls. That’s alright when the government is providing insurance for its own employees. But should we be treating all workers in the economy as if they are government workers when it comes to health insurance? Is this not precisely what is meant by excessive government control? While the FEHBP embodies good policy for the federal government dealing with its own employees, excessive rhetoric from the original designers of that system (about how it is a model for all health insurance) has now brought us to the point of believing that all workers in the private economy ought to be treated as government employees when it comes to health care. Hillary will also provide, as another option, the choice of a completely government run, government financed health insurance plan. Why? And, again, how is this not government run health care? Moreover, how benign will this plan really be when she is done subsidizing it up the kazoo, and driving all the private plans out of business with her blizzard of regulatory requirements? Bye, Bye Private Insurance Hillary’s plan will also impose guaranteed issue on all private health-insurance plans. This means that insurers cannot reject anyone for their insurance, even on the grounds that the patient is already woefully sick and costly. Moreover, insurers won’t be able to charge more costly patients higher premiums. Effectively, this would necessarily end any real private insurance in America. Under these requirements, companies are no longer insuring health costs, they are simply financing health costs. Health insurers would be like fire insurers who are required to issue new policies at standard rates to those who show up to buy coverage after their homes have already caught fire. Clearly, this is unworkable. Hillary says the insurers are supposed to be in the business of spreading the risk, not cherry picking the most healthy. But when someone shows up to buy health insurance with cancer and heart disease, we are no longer talking about risks. We are talking about payout. This is not an insurance business. Rest assured, moreover, that the healthy with health insurance do not want to see the “risks” of the irredeemably unhealthy spread to them. Those without health insurance who have become uninsurable can, and should, be served through other means, such as state uninsurable risk pools that do not involve trashing the health-insurance system for everyone else. But trashing the private health-insurance market is exactly what Hillary and her allies advocate. Rationing Finally, there is the Best Practices Institute, which should be called the Ministry of Truth for health care. These folks will study all sorts of medical care, issue protocols, and standards for what is the best way to treat this or that. And don’t expect any insurers anywhere, public or private, to pay for anything other than what these folks say is the best practice. To oppose the Institute, of course, would just be to pay for waste and inefficiency. So this is the ideal mechanism for imposing the inevitably necessary rationing. New, expensive medical breakthroughs will be overlooked, or delayed. If your doctor has a brilliant insight on how to treat you, no problem. All you have to do is go to the Best Practices Institute in Washington, explain why this treatment is the right one for you, and get the regs changed. In this brave new world, life insurance will be a lot more valuable to people than health insurance. Insurers, now all under the control of government, will also impose rationing by squeezing reimbursements to health providers, with the limited funds the new system will allow them, until the providers themselves cut back. This is what the government already does with Medicaid, and increasingly with Medicare. And there is so much more. In Hillary’s three speeches and three papers on her website, she outlines dozens of new health care requirements in her new system, which will not be government run. The government is all wise and all knowing, and just needs to make sure the rickety old health-care system gets it all right, as it is dragged into the 21st century. And when Hillary gets done with those fascist drug companies, you can forget about any new breakthrough drugs coming to market in the future, running up costs. But remember, the system is not government run, and don’t let those nasty Republicans tell you otherwise.

American Colleges and Universities? I am interested in studying in America for a couple of years and I would be coming from the UK with only British qualifications. I want to study Fashion Management and/or Marketing, just something along the business side of Fashion that could lead me to being a buyer or merchandiser. I am unsure about which places will offer good courses, which are good unis and if there is a sort of website that contains lists of all the unis and colleges and the courses they offer, something like UCAS (the British version). If you know anything about studying fashion at college in America, I could really do with your help. Also, as I am an international student, would I have to take a lot of tests to make up for not having any American qualifications? I quite like the idea of studying in California or somewhere on the coast. I am 17 at the moment but when I leave my sixth form college, I will be 18, and will probably start the new academic year as 19 as my birthday is in September. Thanks for any help you can give me.
Who own the company if its a PLC? I don't understand; say someone builds a business up from scratch, and then lists it as a PLC, then do the shareholders now own it? Who does all the profits go to? Say for example, microsoft became a (not sure the american equivalent of) PLC, would bill gates no longer be earning billions, as the shareholders would own the company. Please explain. I no people become a PLC to raise extra finance, but what's the point if you don't earn the money, but the shareholders do instead.
My African American History Essay on Booker T. Washington? I'm welcome to any revisions please critique this for me and give as my changes as possible... Thanks Following the American Civil War came a self-reliant and inspiring Booker Taliaferro Washington an esteemed black educator who demanded civil reform with authority. Life was not simple for Booker T who from the minute of his birth on April 5, 1856, was brought in enslavement. Working in the burdensome salt furnace at the young age of ten with his father, while still attending school, his life had a tough schedule, which was lessened by his admission to the Hampton Institute, a school set up by rich whites to instruct newly freed slaves from the Civil War. There he worked as a janitor to pay for his school fee. Completing his time in Hampton in 1875, he was hired in the fall of 1879 to teach young Native Americans and to teach night classes for black men and women. He was well aware of the hardships face by the common black man Booker T taught black people how to economically better themselves to help raise the African community above their current status, his ideas proved to be very effective in helping the Post-Civil War African community grow and his beliefs still are present today. The Hampton Institute gave Booker T. the building blocks for his later endeavors. The curriculum was based on industrial arts and moral cultivation instead of intellectual pursuits, Booker T found his way around to better himself intellectually. In 1881 Booker T created the Industrial Tuskegee Institute in Alabama. Made from a worn down old church, came the leading educational center for blacks, who in the making created the Tuskegee Movement: a list of policies, views, and tactics that made Booker T. Washington the "the race leader" in dealing with the "Negro Problem". From his southern small-town headquarters he showered the nation with schools and newspapers, creating a means by which the African Population could free themselves of "Jim Crow's noose" and "Uncle Tom's iron-grip". He later established the National Negro Business League in 1901 which was created to "promote the commercial and financial development of the Negro". By himself, he was making a more self-confident, and more aware black man. Washington told blacks to just accept social segregation and focus more on trying to acquire better jobs and more education because it would be better for the community as a whole. His thoughts on race relations and his burgeoning influence white northern philanthropists and had great recognition among blacks. In a speech delivered in 1895, known as the Atlanta Compromise address, he voiced antidemocratic views and endorsed segregation. Booker T. Washington's engrossment on the issue of Negro denial to citizenship enlarged tension between black and whites and made Niagara Movement (1905-1909) and the NAACP. Both groups worked to relieve the Negro's difficulty, through civil rights, political rights, and anti-lynching campaigns. Even though Washington did not openly back them, he secretly fought against racial violence and Jim Crow laws by hiding blacks from lynching mobs and sending anonymous letters of protest. Booker T. Washington's motto was "work hard and acquire property" and whites will welcome you. By endorsing segregation and racial pride, he pleased whites and blacks. By gaining white recognition and international distinction he used these tools to help his master plan for black progress in a segregated harmony. The legacy of his philosophy still shows through his autobiography, Up From Slavery (1901),where he stood for economic self-reliance.

Will Northwest crews survive the merger with Delta? I have a new business contact who was a pilot at TWA. He said that when TWA merged with American, the pilot and flight attendants were placed below Americans crews on the seniority list and most were furloughed or let go.
Should I list working for my parents on my resume? My parents used to own a retail store. I worked there for at least 7 years. I want to list this on my resume because I am applying for a job at American Eagle and this is very relevant experience. How should I list it? I am afraid that it will look suspisious because I started working there when I was 12 until I was 19, and it is only legal to work at 12 if you are working for a business owned by your family. Should I tell them that my parents owned it?

Does anyone in the San Antonio, TX area know a contact and phone number to the....read on.....? Mexican American Business Professional Women Organization/Club? I can't seem to find a listing on Yahoo Yellow pages, nor a website with information?
Where can I find a website that categorizes colleges and universities based on their "specialties"? I don't have a college counselor or a subscription to any college sites yet, so I'm looking for a free guide-to-applying-to-college site that has a page or two dedicated to listing universities/colleges based on their "specialty" (I know, it's a bad term, I just can't think of another word). For example, isn't it true that Columbia has one of the best journalism programs in the country? Isn't Harvard famous for its abnormally smart, conceited lawyers? Is it true that Stanford has an amazing creative writing program--or is that just a rumor? I'd just like a reference area that generalizes American colleges based on what they're known for--even if it's an informal site, or something. If you can't find a website, then I'd still love any information you have about universities--even if you just say like, "I think UPenn has a good business program" or something. Thanks for your help!
Why do people think nothing is being done in the USA to grduce green house gasses? Reducing green house gasses is a multibillion dollar business in the USA. From government subsidizes to power corporations to build more wind towers, to venture capitalist investing billions into new technology, to corporations upgrading old equipment to newer technology that reduces power consumption while making a better and more consistent product, the USA is taking the lead in reducing co2 emissions. The effects are evident. Not long ago, the USA dropped off the list of top polluters. Now China is the leader of green house gas production. This was done from using new technology that was developed over the years. So why do people insist that the USA is "doing nothing" to reduce ghg's? Is it because we as Americans put more faith in individuals to take action while true believers demand that the government use it's full force to make people do what they think is best?
