What do you think of these wedding songs? My husband and I are having our wedding next year. We planned our wedding for our anniversary in 2008 but we found out that April that I was pregnant with our first child. I didn't want to have a belly in my wedding photos so we postponed the wedding but went ahead and got married at the courthouse. A year later, here we are planning our wedding - finally - for 2011. After a grueling time searching through music, asking family & friends for ideas and troubleshooting with my husband over songs we both associate with eachother we narrowed it down to a list of 10 songs. 5 potential walking-down-the-isle songs and 5 potential first dance songs. Here are my favorite two: "At Last" by Etta James (walking down the isle) "You & Me" by Lifehouse (first dance) I wanted for one of the songs to be sung by a woman and for the other to be sung by a man. Also, both songs are songs my husband also likes because it's not just about me. It's his wedding too. What do you think of these wedding songs? Please let me know. I'm open to suggestions as well just be sure not to mention songs that are commonly played at weddings please.
"The 25 Things That Killed Hip Hop" list, What do you think of this list and how many do you agree with? I did not create this list but what do you think about this list?.....source below..... http://www.soulbounce.com/soul/2008/04/25_things_that_killed_urban_mu.php 25 Things That Killed (and are Still Killing) Urban Music In the midst of everyone's declarations that "Hip Hop is Dead" we somehow forgot the slow death that is spreading across all aspects of "urban" music, as the legacy of Soul and its close cousins has devolved into a writhing mass of commercialism, homogenization, thuggification and overall laziness. Now, in no particular order, we present to you the "25 Things That Killed (and are Still Killing) Urban Music" because you love lists and SoulBounce isn't afraid to say what you're thinking. Keep in mind that there will be some overlap, as certain items gave way to others that deserve their own spanking. 1. The End of the "Event" Album: There was a time when albums encompassed an era that included a look, a feel, and a style that informed an artist's videos and live performances for as long as they (or the label) could squeeze revenue from a project by releasing singles. The "event" album can chiefly be credited to Jacksons Michael and Janet, who have entire timelines built around the idea of a "Thriller Era" or a "Rhythm Nation Era". Nowadays, instead of treating albums as what they are (a collection of songs with one unifying theme) artists are more likely to seek out the most ubiquitous Hip Hop beatmakers of the moment and record over a hundred songs from which to "pick" singles. Also, when you have artists that are too scared to release music with a healthy 3-5 year gap in between, the lines to between albums begin to blur, and the eras become indistinguishable, rendering them null. 2. Big Name Hip Hop Producers: With respect due to the beatmakers that introduce a track with the name of their production imprint, ad-lib all over it, and insert themselves as guest rappers 50% of the time, they overshadow the actual vocalist of a song. We certainly don't begrudge any of them the right to employment, but when an artist has to do an inventory of who produced her project to qualifiy it instead of telling us what the album is about, we have to take exception. Reality check: If you're trying to goad me into a purchasing your album because you have a Pharrell beat on it and I'm a Pharrell fan, then that's the only song I'm buying. Your album has to have legs of its own. 3. Deaths of The Notorious B.I.G. & 2Pac: You can probably draw a direct line from the deaths of Biggie and 'Pac to the current state of Hip Hop. The two of them cultivated a style that even a decade later is re- and misappropriated to the nth. Perhaps if they were still alive, they'd have pushed the genre forward. Or maybe they'd be wack and irrelevant. Hey, at least they died while they were still good. 4. "Neo-Soul": We understand the emergence of the "neo-soul" genre as a response to the growing commercialization of modern R&B. But even the artists lumped into this category began to the see that the term was as much a marketing ploy as the very things they eschewed. The language used to describe these artists ranged from "organic" to "avant garde" and any press materials would claim that he/she looks up to Stevie, Marvin and Donnie. And don't stand too close to the stage lest you get burned by the candles and frankencense! Before long, the audience would be fooled and we would either grow to love or loathe this music, defending the art of its purveyors and loudly wondering why they couldn't move as many units as their mainstream counterparts. Simply put, "neo-soul" has become a term used by people to describe music they respect but would never buy. 5. Reality TV: Aside from the manufactured Pop idols that are struggling to stay signed within their prize contracts, we have to question the motives of Sean Combs, Robin Antin and Missy Elliott, who have all aped the reality television format to generate acts for their own stable of artists. To be sure, reality TV has replaced proper Artist Development as a means for these entrepreneurs to cash in, stroke their egos and embarrass people who, 9 times out of 10, deserve it. Speaking of which, what's O'so Krispie doing? 6. Lazy A&R Departments: Did you know that A&R people are also responsible for Artist Development? Probably not, since these days a newly-signed artist is more likely to be stripped of their identity and given one that falls in step with what's popular or, even worse, none at all. Take Cheri Dennis for example. While her album has a respectable amount of solid R&B tracks, we still don't know who Cheri Dennis is, what sets her apart from everyone else or even what she sounds like. But, she has earned the distinction of being signed to her label for nearly a decade with no album to speak of. Did the A&R department utilize that time by playing Spades? Probably. 7. Scarface and The Untouchables: Okay, rapper, we get it, Scarface and The Untouchables are the greatest movies ever made; your life in celluloid, even. But, if you look close enough, you'll come to learn that you are neither Pacino or De Niro and should stop emulating them by using audio clips from the films in your interludes and the script in your lyrics. Too many of you are still doing this after all these years. Also, tell members of your crew to stop calling themselves "Ness" and "Nitti". Just, please, cut it out. Thank you. 8. Thugs: Not only do we have "Studio Thugs" that use de Palma films to inform their image (see above) but there's the "Corporate Thug" (robs an artist of his publishing and signs him to a hellified contract he could never fulfill) and the questionable "R&B Thug", which happened somewhere between R. Kelly and Jodeci and continues to this day. Along the way, labels got the bright idea that the way to a woman's heart was by selling drugs and beating up people. Sexy! This trend has also given rise to something else we'll never understand: "R&B Beef", in which two singers talk trash about each other to the media. Unfortunately, this doesn't result in a "sing-off" but pretty much makes everyone involved look kind of retarded. 9. Crime: Between violating probation, not paying child support, being pulled over and caught with an ounce of weed or cocaine, assaulting nail technicians, shooting people, tossing concertgoers off the stage, committing perjury, tax evasion, and urinating on minors, we have to wonder if being a good artist means being a bad citizen. 10. Ringtones: "Real Music Ringtones" were created as a way to distinguish your ringing cellular from someone else's while also bringing you closer to your favorite artist. Unfortunately, the labels realized this was the only way to generate revenue and started making music for the sole purpose of selling ringtones. Now, we have stripped-down keyboard beats and grunts and "yaahhs" instead of lyrics. Is that my cellphone ringing or yours? We'll never know, because we both downloaded Soulja Boy. 11. Lack of Music Programs in Schools: Programs like Garage Band have not only made producers lazy, but undercut the importance of immersing young would-be musicians in music history as well as basic composition. Unless a popular musician was trained in the church, they probably lucked into a contract without knowing how to write, play an instrument, or worse, sing a note. 12. BET (and by extension its corporate owner) is on a mission to not only destroy urban music, but poison the perception of Black people in the process. If we were to use this network as a guide (and people unfortunately do), we would believe that "drug dealer > rapper > pimp" is a logical career path, alcoholic beverages can be used as bodysplash, women of exotic or indeterminate race are the standard of beauty, darker-skinned women are only valuable if they have a big ass and a tiny waist, a person's worth can only be determined by what they drive and what they wear, you ain't sh*t if you're over 30, and a week's worth of debauchery and decadence can be undone with a Sunday marathon of religious programming. It's funny because it's true. 13. The Radio: Used to be, you would turn on the radio and hear a variety of artists with a variety of sounds. But due to the "Clear Channeling" of Urban Radio, you'll hear a T-Pain song followed by 15 minutes of commercials, followed by a song featuring T-Pain, some shucking and jiving by unbearable radio personalities for five minutes, then something that resembles a T-Pain song, but isn't because just about everyone sounds like T-Pain now. And it's probably a commercial. 14. Spineless Club DJs: If you're going out to a club, you might as well sit in the house and blast the radio instead of paying the inflated cover charge. Once upon a time, DJs were tastemakers, but now so many of them are afraid they'll clear the floor by spinning something new that they just play album versions of songs people are tired of but are too drunk to notice. Then, they add insult to injury by showing off their "skills" with poorly-timed scratches, blends that don't line up and screaming over the music. And consider yourself lucky if you happen upon a DJ with ACTUAL! VINYL! RECORDS! 15. Mainstream Hip Hop Publications: Back in the 90's, holding one of these rags in your hands was like holding a monthly Bible to all things Hip Hop and R&B. Now, they've all been relegated to chasing blogs and reiterating things we already knew weeks ahead instead of properly utilizing the print medium to do something unique. Changes in personnel and ownership aside, they were already marching towards irrelevance. Even the covers suck now, but you probably won't get the damn thing delivered on time in order to find out. 16. Bloggers: Guilty as charged! Trifle few of us are qualified to be writing about music with any authority, especially since most of the people behind blogs haven't been alive long enough to have a healthy perspective on the subject. Although it can be argued that record companies rely on blogs for buzz, most of the music championed by popular websites is the same music that would've gotten attention anyway. Also, we have to point out that the commenting system has turned discussions about music into an unholy war of "haters" versus "stans", where everyone is an expert on what they hate or love, but have no concept of anything else including real life. Oh, and providing your readers with the URL to full album leaks doesn't "help" the artist. 17. Youtube & Myspace: On the Internet, everyone is a star (thank you, thank you). But while sites like Myspace and Youtube can provide mainstream and indie musicians with a means of cultivating and connecting with an audience, it becomes a chore to sort through the muck of people with a webcam and a login classifying themselves as "artists". And damn you all to Hell for having the crap you made in Grandma's basement on auto-play. 18. Singing Rappers, Acting Rappers & Rapping Athletes: We'll keep this short. Every now and then you'll happen upon someone that has been able to organically transition from one career to another. Will and Latifah come to mind. To everyone else (coughCurtiscough), stay in your lane. Again, we don't begrudge anyone the chance to make some extra ends; it just shouldn't be at the expense of the audience. 19. The End of Real Singing Groups: Once upon a time, you not only had singing groups that weren't put together by a reality show, but wherein each member contributed a distinct voice or purpose to the group. Sometimes they had members that barely sang a note, but who actually produced or wrote the song. Point is, throwing a bunch of strangers in a house with one phone and giving them makeovers doesn't create synergy. Also, name a recent singing group that wasn't created for a television show or for the purpose of launching someone's solo career. Exactly. 20. "Kanyitis" is a temporary, yet frequent, illness that afflicts singers and rappers alike, wherein an artist waits until the precise moment they are in front of a camera, microphone or reporter to say something shocking and stupid, which will then be quoted by bloggers and searched on Youtube ad nauseum. Then the artist has to explain what they "really" meant, but by that time everyone already thinks they're nuts and doesn't care about a retraction. 21. Death of Aaliyah: Not that Aaliyah took an entire genre of music with her to the grave, but it can be argued that her passing made way for a wave of young, pretty dancers with okay voices and no personality. Only difference between them and Aaliyah is, Aaliyah had personality along with talent, ideas and a willingness to experiment. Also, she wasn't so full of herself. 22. Money: Even worse than artists releasing garbage because they know it sells is the audience's obsession with how much an artist makes. Unfortunately, we've given lack of artistry a pass because someone's "making that paper", which totally undermines the hard work of true creative talents that are constantly writing, recording, and performing. When I buy an album I don't want to hear an entrepreneur, which brings us to-- 23. Products & Brands: Whether rappers and singers are inserting the names of designer alcoholic beverages into their lyrics or cable companies are inserting rappers and singers in their ad campaigns, things come to a point where we need to start realizing how owned these artists are. There's a thin line between businessperson and corporate slave. We'd also like to reiterate a fact that has been pointed out time and time again over the past 10 years: If you can't pronounce it, why should we care that you're wearing it, driving it, or drinking it? 24. People That Aren't in Any Way Associated with Music: Opportunities in the industry are built on connections and there's almost never been a time when someone didn't rise to stardom on someone else's coattails. But now, things have gotten way out of hand. Why be an actual artist when you can be someone that danced in videos, screwed a bunch of rappers and got a book deal? Or, you can be a butler or Executive In Charge of Umbrella-Carrying? Or, worse, be the "Fifth Mic" guy on stage and reliable instigator? Who needs a recording studio? 25. Teenagers: Young people have always had the power to determine trends in all genres of music, which is why corporations defer to them. However, today's teenagers seem to be slightly more insipid than they were in previous generations and definitely have a shorter attention span. Whether it's the teens themselves driving the garbage labels are releasing, or the labels that are leading teens down a path of ignorance, is totally up for debate. It's the chicken/egg question in its purest form.

how did you discover and start liking the band Paramore? it all started in around 2008/2009 when my siblings and i got rockband 2. the song "that's what you get" is on the song list for it. i eventually played the song, and that was the first paramore song i have ever heard. one day, i decided to take a bunch of bands that had one of their songs on rockband 2 and put more songs by them on a CD. i looked through a bunch of paramore songs. i remember one of the songs i listened to being "i caught myself". then several months later (at least 12), i saw a paramore commercial on T.V. i heard a part of a paramore song on there and i did not know what it was called. so i had to listen to a lot of paramore songs until i found the one that i was thinking of (the song turned out to be misery business). i remember listening to songs like decode and ignorance. from then, i slowly started liking paramore more and more. what is your story?
What is the fastest song by the band DragonForce (on guitar)? I'm just curious, there's alot of song's that seem just as fast as the other but I wouldn't mind knowing which one is fastest on guitar. Additionally, I know that Della Vega is the fastest guitarist in the world with a speed of 320 BPM as of late 2008, so I already know Hermin Li is not the fastest already, but could you list some other guitarist that are faster then him? I'm not talking about skill because everyone has an opinion on who is he best I just want to know who else is faster then Hemrin Li, and what song's they play that are faster as well. Thank's! =D

Seeking name and artist of a slow jam? Okay, this sounds crazy because I don't even know the lyrics and have only heard it a few times on the radio. It's a slow jam that came out probably in 2009 or late 2008. It's a duet and the female lead sounds kinda like Fergie, but I don't think it's her. It's something about "I think I'm in love with you" or something about love (of course it's a slow jam) but I heard this song while out dancing in December and am dying to hear it again. If anyone can help or even list a few titles that might be it, I'd be forever grateful! Duet, slow jam, came out within about 12 to 18 months, strong female lead vocals and that's all I got. Thanks!

Why does the calendar say "2008", but it often feels like 1972 on here? "It's conceivable that if Maude were around today, its controversial episodes would never make it to the air." MAUDE'S CHOICE "On those rare occasions when TV dares to deal with the volatile issue of abortion, it would be unthinkable to play the subject for laughs. But then, to paraphrase the All in the Family spin-off's theme song, there was Maude. In its second month on the air, Maude grabbed headlines as the first sitcom that dared to deal with the subject, setting a caustic, politically charged tone for the CBS series that would endure throughout its six-year run. On Nov. 14, 1972, 47-year-old Maude (Bea Arthur) announced she was pregnant. In the following week's episode, she made the decision to have an abortion, which was legal in New York (the locale of the series) but not nationally. Despite the timing-three months before the Supreme Court handed down Roe v. Wade-series creator Norman Lear denies his motivation was political. ''We weren't trying to make a statement,'' he insists today. ''(At first) we asked, what's a good, funny story and pregnancy was a great comedic idea.'' And one idea led to another. Though pregnancy-related themes were already a sure bet for sitcoms, it was considered downright racy when a horrified Maude proclaimed, ''The rabbit died, laughing no doubt,'' and a puzzled friend responded, ''Aren't you using the pill?'' Maude's liberated daughter, Carol (Adrienne Barbeau), a divorced single mother living at home, was the first to suggest that her mother had a choice: ''You don't have to have the baby.... Abortion was a dirty word; it's not anymore.'' Later, in the gentlest way possible, Maude's husband, Walter (Bill Macy), said, ''In the privacy of our own lives, you're doing the right thing.'' The show vaulted from 13th to 5th place in the Nielsen ratings in those two episodes, but success came with a price. ''We knew some people would be upset,'' Lear says, ''but we had no idea of the conflagration that did follow.'' CBS received hundreds of calls and 7,000 letters protesting the episodes, and that wasn't the end of it. The furor erupted again nine months later when ''Maude's Dilemma'' was rerun. Twenty-five CBS affiliates refused to air the shows, the network received 17,000 letters, and only one 30-second commercial was sold-the result of pressure on advertisers by antiabortion groups. Abortion is still difficult for commercial TV to handle. Four years ago, many advertisers shunned the NBC movie Roe vs. Wade. It's conceivable that if Maude were around today, its controversial episodes would never make it to the air." TIME CAPSULE Nov. 14, 1972 Diana Ross drew crowds to theaters in LADY SINGS THE BLUES, Johnny Nash had his biggest hit with ''I CAN SEE CLEARLY NOW,'' and Richard Bach dominated the fiction best-seller list with JONATHAN LIVINGSTON SEAGULL.
On this day in 1970, Janis Joplin died a tragic death..? //Band of the day: Grobschnitt. Song of the day: Symphony. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qI7R6gN22q0 \\ If you care, I'll do this more often. Respond if you listened/liked this song.. and whether or not I should skip this part of my question(s). Well, ya' know, I know nothing about this person, but I see she's highly respected among you guys, so I chose her to be the basis for this question. + Janis Lyn Joplin (January 19, 1943 – October 4, 1970) was an American singer, songwriter, painter, dancer and music arranger. She rose to prominence in the late 1960s as the lead singer of Big Brother and the Holding Company and later as a solo artist with her backing groups, The Kozmic Blues Band and The Full Tilt Boogie Band. At the height of her career she was known as The Queen of Rock and Roll as well as The Queen of Psychedelic Soul. Rolling Stone magazine ranked Joplin number 46 on its list of the 100 Greatest Artists of All Time in 2004, and number 28 on its 2008 list of 100 Greatest Singers of All Time. + MQ: Favorite Janis Joplin tracks? MQ2: Favorite Janis Joplin albums? MQ3: Favorite group Janis Joplin was involved with? BQ: How does Janis Joplin rank among your favorite female vocalists? BQ2: Let's say National Geographic had video footage of a rainbow-polka-dotted zebra being chased by a Christmas-colored lion, and then the both of them being shot down by an extraterrestrial creature using his eyes as lasers. How would you respond to this? BQ3: How do you propose we should stop the bullying problem involving sheep? BQ4: Do you care for what happens in politics? I, for one, don't give a f*ck, unless it directly concerns me or my welfare. BQ5: How much sheep could a sheepchuck chuck if a sheepchuck could exist?
Tribute to Eddy Arnold...Make The World Go Away...What song do you enjoy by Eddy Arnold? "Eddy performed for six decades. He created the Nashville sound in the late 1950s, and had 147 songs on the Billboard Magazine music charts, second only to George Jones. Though Jones had more individual hits, one authoritative study ranks Arnold as the all-time leader for hits and their time on the charts. Arnold sold more than 85 million records from 1943 to his death in 2008. Arnold transcended different musical tastes in country music. He served as a role model for future musicians with both his music and his scrupulously moral personal life. A member of the Grand Ole Opry (since 1943) and the Country Music Hall of Fame (since 1966), Arnold ranked 22nd on County Music Television's 2003 list of The 40 Greatest Men of Country Music." What makes Miley successful? If you think she's not, here are the facts: 1. She's listed in Time magazine's 100 Most Influential People in The World. 2. Forbes magazine ranked her #35 on the "Celebrity 100" list with earnings of $25 million in 2008, her rank improved to #29 in 2009. 3. Her second studio album under her own name, entitled Breakout debuted at #1 on the U.S. Billboard 200 chart with a first week sales of about 371,000 copies. 4. "7 Things" was the first single to be released from Breakout and peaked at number 9 on the Billboard Hot 100. 5. In 2008, she hosted the Teen Choice Awards. 6. She co-wrote and recorded one of the two original songs on the soundtrack of Bolt, which features her Bolt co-star John Travolta. Titled "I Thought I Lost You", it was later nominated for a Golden Globe Award for Best Original Song. 7. Her single, "The Climb" from Hannah Montana: The Movie soundtrack peaked at number four on the Billboard Hot 100, thus becoming her highest charting single since "See You Again" and "7 Things" which charted at #10 and #9 respectively. 8. The movie's soundtrack became the third album under the franchise to take the lead of the Billboard 200 and was certified platinum by the RIAA. 9. "Party in the U.S.A." charted at # 2. The song made it to number one on Hot Digital Songs with 226,000 paid downloads, making her the youngest artist to top the chart, which led its big debut on the Billboard Hot 100, where it was placed at number two, topping "The Climb". The song thereby became the fastest breaking single in Hollywood Records' history. The question is, what makes Miley so successful? The question still remains unanswered: What makes her so successful? It's not her dad. In her biography "Miles to go", she stated that she had to go through auditions after auditions. And there were fifty other would-be Hannahs waiting to be seen. Over 2 million people having bad taste in music? Well, I beg to differ. I'm not asking why she sucks so badly, I'm asking what makes her so successful. It's not entirely Disney that makes her successful, if it were, her latest album, The Time of Our Lives featuring the lead single "Party in the U.S.A." would be a flop. Reason, it is released under Hollywood Records not Disney. FYI, the album has sold over 700,000 copies worldwide according to Rolling Stone. She writes many of her own songs including "Party in the U.S.A." The song's lyrics evoke her move from Nashville, Tennessee to Los Angeles, California.

I believe it was on Conan (possibly could be been Leno, but I don't think so), had a Musical Guest in the later parts of 2008...The singer of the band kind of looked like Mitch Hedberg and I swear I heard the song in a commercial a while back as well...I can't even remember any of the lyrics, but I remember it was a different kind of music. It was soft/mellow music. If anyone has a list of musical guests Conan had, or any ideas at all, I would greatly appreciate it!!! I can't remember who it was to save my life...it's killing me - help!!! Thanks!!!! So I finally figured it out today...It's seriously been driving me nuts...I had actually gone through Conan O'Brien and Jay Leno's guest list back to July, 2008 for both of them...I was even going to YouTube to look them up to refresh my memory...Out of no where, as I was searching, the lyrics start going through my head and its a minute or so before I even realized: 1) I was singing a song in my head 2) It was the damn song!!! Thank you Google!!! It was Paolo Nutini - "Last Request". Turns out, he was on Leno back in 2007...I must have seen a damn rerun haha... In any case...Check it out...It takes some getting used to because he's Scottish and his voice is different, but its kind of catchy-ish...
What popular music is often mistaken for classical? I've decided to post this to "classical" rather than "other", because I suspect the people in this section will actually have a better idea of what I'm talking about. However, I'll give a brief list of examples, and see if you can think of any others. 1. Andrew Lloyd Webber's "The Phantom of the Opera" --frequently mistaken for an opera because it is set in the Paris Opera House and it has the word "opera" in it--and sopranos. 2. "Con Te Partiro" otherwise known as "Time to Say Goodbye" and "Por ti volaré"--all three popularized by Italian pop tenor Andrea Bocelli. The song itself was written for the 1995 San Remo Festival, a competition for the popular Italian songs (kind of like "The Eurovision Song Contest"--only just for Italians). 3. Tie between Korean composer-pianist Yiruma's "A River Flows in You" and "Bella's Lullaby" from the soundtrack of "Twilight" (2008) by Carter Burwell (who refers to it as the "Love Theme"). These two compositions are frequently confused with each other, by their very own fans! Youtube has plenty of examples of the constant mixup, which is a sad commentary on the blandness and/or lack of originality in both compositions, or the lack of musical discernment in young or inexperienced music listeners. 4. Moving steadily up--"Nella Fantasia". A song adaptation from the theme "Gabriel's Oboe" featured in the Ennio Morricone score of the 1986 movie "The Mission". 5. Soundtracks for "Final Fantasy"--a video game series. Immensely popular, most fans are not only devoted to the collection of Japanese composers responsible for the soundtrack, they are keenly aware the music was written specifically for the series. Then there are the others---who keep asking what "opera" these songs and themes are from. When you answer, leave out any actual classical music sung or performed by non-classical artists. A dumb-down or jazzed-up version of "O Mio Babbino Caro" sung by the latest contestant on a television talent show is from an actual opera even though it may have been mangled to a horrific degree. Also save yourself grief and ignore people who ask for all kinds of sheet music even if it's rock-and-roll----unless they are asking what classical composer wrote the Rolling Stones' "Paint it Black" or something. Your turn---if you can post a link of some kind, do so. Thanks, Steve. But I specifically said to leave out any actually classical music---no matter how altered! I'm looking for things that aren't classical AT all, and never were! People just THINK they are---for example if someone wanted to know which Wagner opera Mantovani's "Red Sails in the Sunset" was taken from--but their recording of "Clair de Lune" is just an elevator version of bona fide classical music. Thumbs up for everyone for taking the time to post such thoughtful questions. Brownie points to Petr B and WV for giving curious young people the benefit of the doubt. However, some adults out there refuse to be educated. I even gave the poor guy who keeps getting slammed by angry trolls (I've seen him on other questions getting thumbs down on things that were strictly factual and couldn't be answered any other way). Thanks--I think--to Nick who reminded me of other music that I often see mentioned over and over again. However, my choice for best answer is.......
how to clear a confusion? I used to be in a relationship with this guy for a long time. And then our relationship got sabotaged by other people and they forced us to separate. He was my soul mate and i thought i was his we couldn't bare to be apart from each other, if i went somewhere without telling him soon or later he end up there. we were each others life. Marriage was even in the question. We last saw each other in 1999 that's when we were last together. He hasn't tried to contact me once or even find out how i was since then even when my father passed away he didn't try and talk to me or write to me there are people who i know and he knows them as-well so he could have tried to get a contact from them if he wanted to. I tried to just get on with my life not even try and think about him. I then heard that he had taken up singing he writes his own songs and sings them makes albums and things. He's not someone well own or has a record deal or does Music video's or anything his stuff is just private. In 2008 some one that he knows and i know showed me his sisters wedding video in the video there was two random songs which didn't even fit in with the wedding, the songs were his and he was singing them it seemed like the songs were about me so i thought, the words were like (by falling in love i had to bare a lot of thing's and the sun comes up in the morning and disappears in the evening, without you life has no colour, you left me just like that who do i go and tell how i'm feeling). Words like them made me think may be the song is about me it didn't t make sense why would a song like that be put in a wedding video but my head keeps telling me it's just a random song that he sang may be to show off his voice and it does not mean anything. Never the less the songs touched my heart and i started missing him more and all the memories came flooding back. I tried to and get a contact of him but had no luck. But kept trying to make my heart understand if he still loved me and if any of his promises were true then in all those years he would have tried to get in touch me but he didn't so obviously none of it meant anything to him it was just fun, but i loved him with all my heart. Then suddenly i found him on face book i sent number of messages but he ignored them even when i accused him of lying and being a fraud he kept silent he didn't say anything to reassure me or defend him self it wasn't true. So stupidly i tried to keep a contact going but he wouldn't even replay to half my messages only when he felt like it. And in one of his messages he said he doesn't want to talk to me because he wants concentrate on his music. Then in another one he said how can he forget me and he wants to make a memory album about us only if i want him to but he needs help cash wise. I replayed back saying what's the point when i don't mean anything to him anymore and that was that. He never mentioned it anymore. I even told him i will Always love him but he never said it back only thanks. I got fed up with trying to get him to talk to me so i sent him a final message saying that i won't try and talk to him anymore because obviously he doesn't want to. Months later after i removed him from my friends list he suddenly sent a message asking how i was but when i asked him why he hasn't replayed it's been three weeks. I am so confused what should i do how do i find out what's going on in his mind. Why send a message months later and then not bother anymore i keep telling my self he's a fraud none of it was true on his side and i was stupid to fall for him and his words. Should i ask him what he's playing at or just leave it because he's not worth it. please help this is bugging me. It also hurts so much. I just want to hate him and never remember his name I wish i never laid eyes on him.
Can you believe that this got album of the year!? Okay I know music TV has gone down the drain but this takes the biscuit. 1st and foremost im a fan of A7X's "music", the band themselves are total knobs*ckers. So from an honest point of view their latest album is complete boll*cks. I loved the prior 3, they were raw and paved the way for metalcore/screamo bands. So Kerrang voted their self titled album, Album Of The Year. Ya have to wonder who the hell compiles these lists. Here's the proof: http://blog.kerrangawards.com/2008/2008/08/best_album_winner.html Here's links to the rubbish songs off it: Afterlife http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HIRNdveLnJI Critical Acclaim http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=COXMUGEFnag Now in fairness this is a good A7X song http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vp_SjtX-juc Now look at the 2007 winner in the link, thats a proper metal album! Why listen, ahhh ya thats a good response to ur answer, ur avatar name :) Thrash till death, it was a fan vote I think. It used to be a great music channel and mag but lately all I read in it is how Gerard Way wanted to kill himself or how FOB are the answer to punk rock, ive stopped buying it since seeing those articles. Your favorite album for each year of 2006-2010? Mine: 2006 - Laugh Now, Cry Later (Ice Cube) 2007 - 8 Diagrams (Wu-Tang Clan) 2008 - Raw Footage (Ice Cube) 2009 - The Seventh Seal (Rakim) 2010 - I Am The West (Ice Cube / kinda weak, but had like 7 good songs and I can't deny Ice Cube) I know, pretty generic list, but I'm an Ice Cube stan I guess, and Rakim and Wu-Tang....you know.
Problem with a creepy 19 year old...help?!? Well, in summer of 2007 I was 14, and I went to my close friend's block party. It was all fun, just me, him and a few of our other friends and some of his neighbors who are around our age hanging out in his pool and his backyard/house. Now, after a while, one of his neighbors(who was only 17 at the time), started hitting on me and stuff. At the time, I didn't mind it, because I thought he was cute and I could use the practice flirting. However, later, my friend gave me his s/n and him mine. We talked online quite a bit, and it was all fun. He was nice and stuff, but I felt like he was getting a little too interested in my personal life too quickly. Then, I went on vacation with my family for a couple of days, and he found my cell phone number in my friend's phone and started texting and calling me. ALL the time. By that point, I was getting a little weirded out by him. So, after a while, I'd had enough, so I blocked all ways for him to contact me. I didn't hear from him again after that. During July 2008, however, I went to this same block party as the year before. Again, I saw him (this time, he was 18 turning 19 in a few weeks), but this year he was a little more....withdrawn. So, I stupidly decided to talk to him, and apologize for cutting off all communications with him. After that, we began talking through instant messages a little more, and gradually we started talking multiple times a day. We were texting again, etc. But then, I started feeling a bit uncomfortable about it, because two of my close friends (the neighbor and one of his close friends) told me that he had told them that he liked me. I had suspected it anyway, but it was worse to get confirmation. He wrote me creepy poems, songs, etc. and it was really beginning to scare me. So, our mutual close friend asked him to stop talking to me unless I talked to him first. And then, I didn't hear from him much after that. But today, in the middle of class, I get a call from him. With a voicemail, where there is some background noise and then it hangs up. This happened 6 more times after this, over a 4 hour time period. I'm really beginning to get scared, because 1. why would he still have me in his contact list? 2. he's 19 and I'm only 15, and 3. I don't want him to talk to me anymore. I haven't talked to him since mid-august, so I really don't understand why I would even be in his contact list still. What should I do? I'm really feeling a tad violated, he knows a lot about me that I never told him; he confided this in his neighbor who, in turn, told me about this. What should I do?!

What do you think of the Female Artist of the Day [60]? Merry Christmas guys. I'll be sure to toast all of you a long, happy life! One at a time of course, one sip isn't much fun ;) ARTIST: Jem - 2 solo albums GENRE: Pop FACTOIDS: - She's from Wales. - She helped write "Nothing Fails" (which later ended up on Madonna's 'American Life'). - She holds a law degree from the University of Sussex. - Her music has been featured in (not a full list by any means): The O.C., Desperate Housewives, Grey's Anatomy, Medium, Monster-In-Law, Ultraviolet, Eragon.... - Normally I don't really care about age, but she's 35. I'd always thought she was much younger. HOW I FOUND HER: I actually didn't. At the time my roommate and I had a little competition to see who could find the saddest songs, heh, and she played "Missing You" for me. Ended up trying out the album, really liked it. She kind of reminds me of Lily Allen sometimes. ALBUM I RECOMMEND FIRST: 'Finally Woken' Feel free to listen to all five, or pick the one that looks best! Whatcha think? "24" from 'Finally Woken' (2004) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iwdn8ZRAk-U "They" from FW http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bFaee49YjMw "Wish I" from FW http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1mz0Z7yx_4s "Aciiid!" from 'Down To Earth' (2008) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=08DVH5dkqp0 "Crazy" from DTE http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1jOxtvQ7PD0
New band from San Francisco? Help me remember the band name and song name? Ok I think the lead singer is homosexual, like that matters but it does narrow down the list of bands. They just released an album in 2008, it was their first, they are high pitched. The most famous song had the word "angel" in the title I believe, and anyway I think they were on a late night talk show performing at some point. (but who isnt lol) And I just can't remember who it is! But they are good. Help me figure it out. EXTREMELY VAUGE sorry! But I know someone knows who they are. They are famous.

school thing again......i really need to get ink for my printer.? Becca RobelBusiness Due Feb,13,09Simon Cowell His first known insult, directed towards his own mother, when he told her, that her hat made her look like a poodle. He was born on October 7th 1959 in Brighton England, Son to Eric Phillip and Julie Cowell, brother too Nicholas Cowell, step brother to Tony and Michael Cowell. Many know him as that mean one on American Idol, who? None other than Simon Cowell. Yes the man who built his fortune on the criticism of others, the producer of the X factor, America’s got Talent and judge of his other show , American Idol. Although it may seem crazy, this man actually worked very hard to get to where he is today. Smarts, Risks and Connections with his Father, made him the man he is today. Due to Drinking and cigarette smoking that started at age 9, Simon was kicked out of a numerous amount of schools leading to him dropping out at age sixteen. Simon began working at a few menial jobs but always had trouble getting along with bosses and co-workers, obviously not a surprise, seeing how he still doesn’t get along with his fellow judges. His Father who was an executive at the recording Giant at EMI music publishing , got him a job in, where else?, his companies mail room. After a year of mail , Simon moved up to a job for Iain Burton, the manager of Chorographer Arlene Phillips, the co- founder of the dance group Hot Gossip, of the record label Fanfare records. In 1989 Cowell’s Fanfare records; parent company, got in to financial difficulties, forcing fanfare into the hands of BMG and Simon back into his parent’s house. He says this tragedy was the best thing that happened to him, teaching him the value of money. He then worked his way up to a position in music publishing he left to form E&S music with his boss at EMI. His Fathers connections in the business eventually got Simon rehired as the assistant to an A&R man. A little later in the year, Simon became an A&R consultant for BMG .when 2001 rolls around, Simon and two other judges star on a British show called Pop Idol, much like today’s American Idol. In 2002 Cowell set up another very successful label, SYCO records which then became a part of other labels such as Columbia Records and Sony BMG music entertainment. This was also the year American Idol premiered, naming Kelly Clarkson season one’s American Idol. In 2003 he releases a book titled, “ I don’t mean to be rude, but” about his early childhood and how he became who he is. That same year after a long search, Cowell found four men perfect for II Divo. Then the X- factor, a show off the syco records premiered in 2004. America’s got talent also began this year. Just two years later Simon became executive producer to American inventor a show seeing who can come up with the next big “it” thing on the market. In 2006 he also agreed to remain a judge on American Idol, earning a hefty check of 40 million annually. In the year 2008 a popular artist from the UK became famous in the US for her hit song bleeding love, yes Simon even signed Leona Lewis. Through out the years of his music career Simon has had many honors given to him. The judge of American Idol was presented with the accolade by theatre impresario sir Andrew Lloyd Webber during the ceremony at Royal Albert Hall. He was also presented with the life time achievement award as well. His show American Idol has been nominated for many Emmys over the years. He has won Teen Choice awards as well as an award for Special recognitions In 2006, Cowell ranked No. 29 on Forbes Magazine's "Celebrity 100 Power List." He was named one of People Magazine's 25 Most Eligible Bachelors in 2004.He was placed No.33 on channel 4’s list of all time worst Britons. He is famous for he quotes such as, "That was terrible, I mean just awful" And "My advice would be if you want to pursue a career in the music business, don't." "Did you really believe you could become the American Idol? Well, then, you're deaf." He often compares contestants to karaoke bar singers. Although he is brutal to many contestants, he might just have a heart of gold. Cowell supports animal rights and has even appeared in a video for PETA, where he reminds people not to keep their animals in the hot car when they are out and about. He has been involved in charities for children as well. He has even invited them backstage to the screenings of the x factor. After the Idol gives Back segment went on air, a close source said Simon gave his paycheck to these children in poverty. In conclusion, Simon Cowell has been a tragedy turned into a success story. He changed his bad luck in high school to a high paying job as a brutally honest judge on many shows. But is this the last we will see from him? He told a British magazine that when his contract with American idol was complete “that was it” he says” by the end of my contract the public will be sick of me.” Bibliography http://tvwatch.people.com/2008/04/08/simon-cowell-donates-pay
My wife travels with a rock band. How would you feel? There is much to consider, but I will try to keep this brief: My wife and I (we are the same age-- 46) have been together 10 years, culminating in marriage in Dec. 2008. It was 2nd marriage for both, we each have kids from 1st marriage, none together. We have been faithful and there's no reason nor evidence to suggest that will change. She chose to renew a singing interest after spending 10 Sundays alone at home while I managed and played in a large area golf league. I urged her to do so, as we live in a remote area-- far from family-- and we have few friends due to the nature of our respective professions (we work separately from home and I travel overnights). She began looking for gigs 3 years ago and has hooked on-- for the past 18 months-- with a travelling rock band that plays tribute songs to a particular artist. It's a 10-piece band with 4 women, including the wife of the lead singer, who travels with him to every show. They are managed by a talent agent who books gigs for them up and down the east coast and as far west as Ohio (we live in NJ). She is now gone 30-45 weekends a year, with many overnights. I travel 2-3 overnights during the week. This is a lifestyle change, plain and simple. She is passionate about her singing, but I feel perhaps she is too passionate about this particular band. I'm a laid-back guy. It's my nature. My wife is very attractive and very friendly-- it works that I am not the jealous type. Two things that are hurting me, as this has unfolded over a very busy summer: 1. I know she would not accept this, were the situation reversed. She once was bothered by a female customer calling me a "sweetie". Now, I have to listen to her tell her male band mates that she "loves them" and calls them "honey". Early-morning phone calls, late-night text msgs, from band mates... just to talk about set lists and responsibilities and timelines and chords. 2. Had I never mentioned my dissatisfaction with the schedule, it's unlikely she would have. I believe she would play with the band every weekend, and so long as she promises to be faithful than I shouldn't take issue with anything. I am a hard-working, successful guy who is faithful and considerate. I want my wife to have a great life and enjoy the things that fulfill her emotionally. I am a loving, good looking husband who works and takes pride in his marriage. Our relationship-- both physical and mental-- remains strong at this point, as we have both made commitments to honor the others' feelings and concerns (I tend to be cynical about her fulfilling her end of the bargain, as she has flat-out gotten starry eyed over the prospect of singing being a full-time job... and I know how much she loves the attention and praise-- it's the woman's lifeblood. She will get more from being on-stage than she will from her most devoted husband-- it's almost impossible to compete with that feeling being given to her). For my part, I would like to be less bitter toward her for what I feel are her inconsiderations of my feelings. To the end: I am simply soliciting opinions from others on how they'd feel. Please be considerate to some fundamentals: - we do love each other. - we are faithful. - I can occupy my own self just fine, thank you.
Unsung Heroes Of R&P...Volume 4? He is an English glam rock singer and songwriter, better known by his stage name. He first came to prominence in the glam rock era of the early 1970s. He had one of the longest chart runs of any solo singer in the UK during the 1970s, with a string of chart hits. Between 1972 and 1995 he charted twenty-six hit singles which spent a total of 180 weeks in the UK Top 100. His success as a live performer lasted well beyond the decade. He continued to record in the 1980s and 1990s. He released seven studio albums, and at least 15 greatest hits collections or live albums. In 1999, He returned to the public eye when he was sentenced to four months imprisonment and listed as a sex offender in the UK following conviction for downloading thousands of items of child pornography. His reputation was greatly tarnished, and, though he continued releasing new music, his popularity declined sharply. He moved to Cambodia but was permanently deported from there in 2002 for suspected child sexual abuse to Vung Tau in Vietnam. In 2005, he was arrested by Vietnamese authorities, was tried and convicted of child sexual abuse charges in June. He was released from prison on 19 August 2008 and returned to London three days later, after being refused entry into Thailand and Hong Kong. So R&P let's show some um, love?!? for the world famous, convicted sex offender: Garry Glitter (what a prick) MQ. Favourite song? MQ2. Favourite Album? BQ. What would you like to thow at his pathetic little face?
PlayNetwork List for Old Navy Stores June 2008? I was in an Old Navy store today and I heard this great song but I was too late in asking the associates what song it was because it had already gone off :( Does anyone know the entire play list from the store for June 08'? I would be so happy!!!! Are the songs the same in every state? Thanks
new rap song.. lyrics? ok, this is VERY vague but i will try to explain the best i can. It's a rap song possibly hip-hop, the rapper is a male, he raps for about a minute or two then the chorus goes something like this "woah woah woahhhh" not to be racist, but it's more than likely a black guy.. the song has a deep bass. the song seems to be pretty new, maybe late 2008.. if you know multiple songs please list them and i'll do my own searching from there, can anyone help? :) nope, sorry it isnt lil wayne, he's more of a high pitched rapper. anyway TO ME.. it sounds like they are saying something like "ewwww ewww ewww.. yeah yeah yeah" and the song im referring to is Woah.. woah.. woahh

Rock Band 2 vrs Guitar Hero: World Tour? Who else is psyched? Two great looking music games coming out fairly soon. The only problem is, which to buy? xD After reading the RB2 set list just revealed, GH is gonna have to work hard to surpass it. You can view it here: http://www.xbox360fanboy.com/2008/07/15/e308-rock-band-2-set-list-song-transfer-under-5/ So the question is, Which will you get? Rock Band 2?, Guitar Hero: WT? or maybe Both? Personally, I will probably buy RB first, then get GH later.
