Can you recommend a good company that sells good conatct lists for direct mailing campaigns? We will be targetting conatcts holding certain positions/titles in US companies that are both public and private of sizes $250M to $1B in annual US Revenues. I know that a lot of lists are crappy and have old (or just wrong) information. Have you had good experiences (or bad) with any list companies such as US List, Infocore, Guaranteed Lists, Century List Services, The List Company, etc. Also - the campaign we're doing requires us to actually obtain the list (as opposed to sending our materials off to the list managing company to generate leads for us). Thanks for your help!
How do I compile a residential list for direct mailing? I know there are companies that I can buy these lists from, but I am fine with doing the work myself. I just don't know where to start. Aside from grabbing the phone book and just typing my heart out. Any info will be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
do you need a license for direct mailing? I am a mark rep and would like to start mailing catalogs to potential customers through buying a mailing list. I wanted to know if this is something that requires a license or any other information regarding starting this business?
Marketing Experts: How do You Convert Your Direct Mail Recipients to Email? I run a nonprofit and our main marketing asset is a direct mail list of 50,000 names - but all physical addresses. Our email list pales by comparison - and in fact pales in comparison to most of our competitors. We would LOVE to convert our snailmail list to email, but it's a challenge. Are there best practices for getting your list off of the very expensive and time consuming direct mailings and onto email? Thanks for any suggestions.
How can I find a targeted mailing/emailing list for screenwriters? I am interested in promoting my website and services to a very targeted niche market: screenwriters and amateurs who write screenplays. But I am having a hard time finding a mailing list or opt-in emailing list for this specific group to promote to. I have checked with some of the big mailing list companies but my niche is just that-a niche. I already promote my site through Google adwords but now want to send direct mail or email. Does anyone have any suggestions for finding lists for such a small targeted group? Thanks.
Mailing list cost $100/M - what does it mean? I just ran into a company that manages different lists - email, direct mail, telemarketing, etc. Some lists are very relevant to my business, that would make it very targeted traffic for my site. The price they give is $60/M - $250/M for different lists. What does it mean exactly?
i have questions about targeted/direct mailing. any help is appreciated.? me and my dad want to promote our business we buy diabetic test strips and we want to target senior apartments and any other place we might want to send them. our question is how do we go about this? we know you buy postcards and you must either create or buy mailing lists. then you mail them out. but we dont know how to make a list or the targeted places we want. and if its really expensive to do this. and how we get them mailed out like do we take them to the post office or what. so any help is really appreciated because we would really love to do this. thanks im sorry im not more specific but i am new to direct mailing and i need to know just the flat out process it takes. thanks
Can I obtain a mailing list from the county office for free? (or close to it?)? I'm checking out the possibility of starting a direct mail "coupon catalog" in Chatham County, NC. Do I have to pay for a list, or can I get one from the county for free? I'm looking for a general answer.. Don't let the Chatham County thing fool you. If you know of a county in the US that's giving lists, let me know!
Do You Know Of A Good Mailing List? We are a deli/catering business. We will be sending out some direct mail postcards to local businesses. Do you know which type of businesses we should target? Large or small? Which type of business would most likely order lunch out? Also, what type of mailing list should we use. Thank you for your help.
What is the best solution for sending messages to my email lists? Is using Bcc a good option to sending out large amounts of emails to my mailing lists? I have tried using direct delivery, but that is not working. I have also tried the bulk email marketing servers, but I had too many spam complaints and they terminated my account. I'm not spamming, just responding to emails from my ads.
Direct Mail Marketing ????? Me and my husband just started a small business in Computer Repair, I have an idea about sending postcards out to local residents and businesses so we can get more business in. I was able to find a site whom will make the custom postcards for us for $25 for 250 which is GREAT but Im having a problem in finding a direct mailing list or a generator of mailing list addresses. Does anyone know of any sites that sell these list for cheap or a free generator ????? Also wanted to ask about postage, what would be the cheapest way to go about sending bulk mail out. Thanks ........
How do I stop direct mail solicitation/harassment? Hello Everyone, A friend of mine has been receiving an inappropriate amount of direct mail recently. In the past 2 months, I have compiled a list of organizations that have been solicitating her, and the list is already 13 pages long. In only 2 months alone! Here is a list of some of the "As": AARP – 601 E Street, NW – Wash DC 20049 AdoptaPlatoon Soldier support Effort – PO Box 9570 – Pueblo, CO 81008 (mailing address) AHEAD – Borderline Disaster – PO Box 96197 – Wash DC 20090-6197 (return & reply address) 6/20) Alliance Defense Fund, Inc – 15333 N. Prima Rd – Suite 165 – Scottsdale, AZ 85260 (mailing address) Alliance Defense Fund, Inc – PO Box 54370 – PHOENIX, AZ 85078-4307 (reply address) (6/16) Almost all of them have solicitated her a least once, some upwards of 7 times. Presumably, she is on one specific mailing list, that all of these organizations tap into. How do I get her off of this?

Direct Mail? I have a small business and am looking to obtain a direct mail list, which also includes email addresses. There are quite a few out there on the internet, but I don't have the time to research all of them to determine if they have what I need and are reputable. Can anyone suggest a good and reputable direct mail provider/broker that will provide references?
What are my rights as a small business owner in terms of direct mail advertisement? I own a small hearing aid store in the Chicago-land area. Most of my advertisement is done through direct mail. On average, we send out around 7,000 mailers every month through the Post Office. My first qualm: I seem to get a handful of calls each month of people wanting off the mailing list. My mailing lists are bought from a marketing database, InfoUSA. I do not directly handle my mailing list, as I outsource most of my work to a printer. I don't necessarily know how to go about taking every single person that calls off the lists nor have the time to do so. However, I don't want to waste the money on printer fees and postage when the consumer does not want the mail in the first place. What are my rights in this situation and what am I supposed to do if someone asks to be taken off the mailing list? Secondly, I am not too fond of consumers calling shouting and screaming at me right from the get go all over a flimsy piece of paper. Is it in my rights to end a phone call with a angry receiver of my direct mail if their tone is out of line? And if I have to find a way to remove them from the mailing lists, what information must I obtain before being forced to do so by law? For example, if I end a call because of unnecessary shouting before I get a name and address, do I necessarily have to remove that person from the mailing list? I know this third question is kind of ludicrous, but are my direct mailings an invasion of somebody's privacy if I have paid for the mailing lists and the postage to send them to someone's mail box? I had a caller claim her privacy was breached by me mailing her a mailer and then threaten to sue me for invasion of privacy if I sent her any direct mail again, and I believe that an invasion of privacy is something completely different than what they were referring to if I can remember my Business Law classes. Is this threat valid and, if so, on what grounds? Lastly, this might come across as a rhetorical question, but is it really that hard to take the piece of paper and toss it in the trash if you aren't interested? It amazes me how much people get worked up about a silly advertisement, so much that they have to call and harass a small business owner, when they can just chuck it and be done with it. I can understand if you got one every day or week from the same place, but my mailers only go out once a month and I usually don't reuse the same lists for at least 5 months. People are seriously going to give themselves heart attacks if such a small thing as this drives their BP that high. I'm not necessarily against people calling me back with complaints over the mailing list (as long as they aren't screaming my head off and spewing hate), nor am I looking to be told to advertise in a different manner. I have other advertising outlets that I use (Internet, newspaper, magazines), but direct mailing is my most effective, hence why I feel like I should find someone who can refresh me on the laws pertaining to such. I don't mind writing down the names for ethics purposes, but most people won't give up their addresses only to say "You have my address!" and hang up. Again, I'm not looking to be told how to run my business. I am just wondering if I'm missing any laws in these situations explained so I can determine such a conclusion on my own.
How can I obtain the addresses of a neighborhood (for mailing)? I am running a small business that is going to send ~ 500 postcards to a local neighborhood. I need a list of the addresses in order to do a direct mailing (instead of bulk mailing, which requires a permit). How can I best obtain the addresses of a neighborhood? USPS wants me to have a typed list, and going door-to-door would be too inefficient to discover these addresses.
Can I ask a user to add their friends to a mailing list? I have one of "those" clients, who just won't take advice, and tries designing things themselves in microsoft word, even though they're paying me. A question I have regarding them though, is that they want a sports team registration form, and want the addresses, and emails of every person on the team so that the can send them email blasts and direct mail stuff. Can the captain who signs them up, opt them into all of this, or is that sort of unethical...because they wouldn't be signing themselves up for these mailing lists...I know that most of the players want the details from captains, and don't want to be bothered with the league sending them all this stuff. So my question is, can they use that information from the form for these purposes? I know there's always the "unsubscribe" option, but I don't want that to be the focus of responses.
Can anyone direct me to a Thunderbird tutorial online? I have to use it at work and it's driving me nuts. I use a lot of mailing lists and find it very difficult to manage these in Thunderbird. I'm trying to send to a list of 20+ people and keep getting a 'unknown user' message, but no clue as to which address is incorrect! I'm gonna scream!
Hi. How do I direct mail from multiple addresses into multiple mailboxes? I have two email addresses and I would like the communications to be separated into two mailboxes. It is not possible to look at my current inbox and tell from the list which mail is to which address without opening the mail. This is time consuming. Any thoughts? Do I need to open a second completely different account to do this or is there an internal mechanism? Thanks! ~S.~
direct mail???? to send direct mail to people to advertise do I have to buy names and ad's from a mailing list company or can i just send it to random names and ad's out the phone book for example? would it be illegal if i didn't get the names and ad's from a mailing list data base? please help!
What is the correct address for the Mail Preference Service? I'm trying to get off the Direct Marketing Association mailing list so I will stop receiving junk mail and I have several addresses (2 in Carmel NY with different po boxes, one in Farmington NY) and their official website says I need to give them a check for $1 to get off the list but all the other websites don't say anything about that (including the USPS website). Does anyone know what the correct address and instructions are?

Direct Mail How can I do it cost effectively? before you answer read this. - I read that if you are doing a direct mail piece targeting the whole town that the PO will address the post cards(for a price) for you so you wouldn't have to buy a list.......is this true? -The town has about 3600 people in it -I'm a graphic designer so I wouldn't have to pay for the design -What else do I need to get a direct mail piece out? This is to announce the opening of my wife's new jewelry store in this particular town
Marketing Assistant for realtors freelance option? I currently work for a broker with 15 realtors. I assist them with computer organization, troubelshooting, custom direct mail, ad layouts, mailing lists etc. My broker allows me to help them to a point but then they are on their own. I'm limited which has made me bored and can't get upgraded software for my work computer to even learn more. Lately some realtors have been asking if I can freelance for them and said I could make alot doing this on my own. Does anyone else out there do this kind of work rather than in-office? I'm curious how successful it can be.
Direct Mail Company Question...? I hired a company to print and mail out postcards for an event my company was putting on. The company told me that the postcards were mailed out on the 28th of August and we were using USPS bulk mail which is 6 - 12 days for delivery. Well I have my address on the mailing list along with 3 other friends so we know when the postcards are being delivered. We have never received the postcards, nor did anyone at the event turn a postcard in for free admission. We sent out 5,000 to a very targeted group of people. Not one was turned in. How can the company prove to me that the postcards were sent and were sent on the day they said they were sent? What kind of document do I need to get them to provide that the postcards were actually mailed out???

How do I market a professional journal to libraries? I am working with a small, newly published professional journal on the topic of gestalt psychotherapy. It is self-published, not published through a scientific publisher. I would like to market subscriptions to the the journal to libraries. It would be most suitable for academic libraries (universities and professional organizations), or research libraries such as big city libraries. Can I do the library marketing directly, through mailing a letter and brochure to a list of libraries, such as big city libraries, institute libraries, or university libraries? Or do libraries normally acquire professional journals only through distributors? I don't want to incur the time and effort of a direct mail approach if that's not the way libraries work in the real world. Thanks for any information or ideas.
Statistics Probability question (its word problem, but simple question)? A direct-mail advertiser has a continuing problem with mailing lists. Historically, about 18% of the addresses on maililing list have been bad. The advertiser has the opportunity to buy a new list, which laims to have a lower percentage of bad addresses. As a test before purchasing the new list, the advertiser takes a random sample of 200 addresses and sends catalogs by mail. After sufficient time has passes, the advertiser finds that 32 of the 200 addresses were bad. P(32 of fewer bad addresses)= .2635 Q) Someonew commments that 32 bad addresses is certainly fewer than the expected value of 36 bad addresses, based on the historical rate of 18%, and recommends that the advertiser purchase the new list. How would you respond??

How should I advertise my new children's birthday party and play center? I'm looking for the most effective ways of reaching families with young children. Now that I used up the free publicity that comes with press releases I'm not sure where I should invest my money. What works what does not? Possible advertisement venues I'm considering: -Direct mail (I was given a list of 1500 name/addresses of my target audience) -Advertising magazines with coupons (that get delivered to homes) -Churches & Temple newsletters -Local newspaper -Local parenting magazines (smaller circulation but more targeted than an advertising magazine
Direct input of addresses in Yahoo mail from Craigs List? The address block in Yahoo mail used to be automatically filled in when I pressed the Reply To address link in a Craigslist Ad. Now when I click on the reply to link Yahoo mail opens up but the Address Block and the Subject Block are not longer filled in. What happened? As far as I know nothing chnaged on my computer that would block this function. Thanks much, Dale
How have you been going paperless? Recently I placed myself on a do not mail list. This is on the Direct Marketing Association website and you can opt to remove yourself from the lists of the marketing firms who are registered with them. Also discovered that one of my credit cards will send the monthly bill via e-mail instead of paper mail.

How should I word this? At an interview, my potentially future employer indicated a few problems that are facing their nonprofit organization. After asking a job coach, I was advised to offer explanation in my follow-up letter as to how I would be an asset to each problematic issue. One of the issue is how to increase the mailing lists for the continuing education program focused on working healthcare professions in the gariatric area. The problem is, I have ideas but they require more information and/or brainstorming with them. I want to get this letter mailed off tonight, and I don't know how to word it other than, "With my educational background in communications, experience in nonprofit promotions, and knowledge of utilizing direct and online marketing, I am confident that we would be able to develop a marketing plan to generate a better outreach through a larger mailing list to continue the educational programs and mission of <company>." My job coach is busy until next week, so she's out of the question right now.
How does copyright apply to data/information? I'm curious to know how information products such as contacts databases and market research can be copyrighted. How can direct marketers sell mailing lists for hefty amounts? What's to stop someone from simply replicating the list and selling it themselves? After all, it is simply a list of people who exist. Similarly, are newspaper listings and classifieds also copyrighted? Would I be violating copyright if I took the TV listings from a newspaper and published them on my website?
How can I make $50 a day online without a start up cost. Anyone doing this care to direct a poor student? I have been trying for about 3 months to produce a income online. I have bought too many make money online packages. The ones with the best reviews and all that. I would say I have a basic understanding of all the different ways you can make money online. I have bought e-mail list and toyed with affiliate programs. Among other things. My best result has been the 72 cents I have earned in the last few weeks with google adsense. If anyone knows a solution and would share it that would be the greatest help to my life and the people around and involved in it. I know i might be asking for secrets well kept by the ones doing this but i have left my personal e-mail contact available (bullcrapfolder5@yahoo.com) and will be very grateful for any help received. Thanks
What is the best & cheapest mode of advertising my embroidery digitizing business.? I run an embroidery digitizing business and would like to increase my customer base, I have already tried online advertising with many providers, such as Google Adwords, Yahoo and the likes. Unfortunately nothing seems to work - I have done my own Search Engine Optimization - and even though my site is listed in the top 10 of Yahoo organic search, I have not been receiving any significant enquiries. I also tried my hands on direct marketing, by mailing postcards - that doesn't seem to work either and I might I add - its very expensive. Besides, I reckon that most of the businesses involved in retail embroidery are still not using internet as a means of communication, sales or outsourcing. I am planning on advertising in newspapers and the thing that I can't seem to decide is that should I go for 'Thrifty Nickels' or 'Penny Savers' to get the most for my money. The basic consideration is that the ads should have a longer shelf life and big circluation and inexpensive.
Stimulus Refund Deposited to a Cancelled Bank Account.? After receiving my 2007 tax refund which was deposited into a small town Credit Union, I cancelled the account and opened up a account at a major bank for location reasons and being open on saturdays. Soon after It was announced that stimulus refund checks would be issued. I found out that since I filed for a direct deposit that there was no way to notifiy the IRS to place me on the mailing list for the refund. The IRS told me that a direct deposit will be attempted then not processed since the account was cancelled and a paper check will be issued. My question since the IRS rep. was clueless, Will I be placed on the scheduled paper check mailing list, or will I have to wait till every paper check is mailed then mine will be issued, since im on the direct deposit list to a invalid account.
