  1. Go to the book store and buy a book on everything to do for a wedding or go to the library they have lots of books
  2. this is a list by what needs to be done first, second, etc. 1. set wedding date 2. establish an preliminary guest list or estimated number of guests 3. look for a venue 4. plan catering 5. look for an officiant 6. look for photographer 8. look for dj or band 9. establish wedding colors (this is normally influenced by the time of year of the wedding and the venue you choose) 10. pick out invitations and order them 11. begin to shop for wedding gowns (about 4 to 6 months prior to wedding, no sooner) 12. ask whomever you wish to be in your wedding to be in it. that includes bridesmaids, maid of honor, best man, groomsmen/ushers, ring bearer, flower girl and don't forget to ask your father or who ever you wish to walk you down the aisle and give you away. 13. shop for bridesmaids dresses and groomsmen clothing 14. plan your flowers and centerpieces (flowers include bouquets for bride and bridesmaids, boutonnieres for men including father and officiant unless he/she is wearing ecumenical robes, corsages for mothers/grandmothers/aunts/sisters who are not part of the wedding party and corsages for anyone who is helping do anything in the wedding as a volunteer) 15. pick out the wedding rings and have them sized. 16. order the wedding cake 17. send the wedding invitations about 6 to 8 weeks prior to the wedding. 18. make appointments for hair and makeup and nails 19. try to relax and enjoy your day.
  3. First, establish your budget, who is paying for what, your parents, his parents helping or just you and he. By this you can determine approximate guest list, cost per person for reception and go ahead and reserve venue as soon as possible. In your budget, add your dress, bridesmaids pay for their own attire dress, shoes and accessories. Rings should be done before or if not include in budget, but fiance usually gives engagement ring when asking. Color/theme is your personal choice. I think themes are totally dumb, a wedding ploy by wedding companies to make more money, just me. Colors are yours, special or by season. Go to these websites for checklists and make one master checklist, make copy and an extra copy. http://www.weddingwire.com http://www.elegantoccasions.com http://www.keepandshare.com http://www.theknot.com http://www.getmarried.com These should be helpful. Some things that may not be on lists--an emergency kit for day of wedding, ie. smal sewing kit, etc. and google a good name change kit complete with all forms necessary for state you will be living in. Good luck, hope this helps, best wishes!!!!
