How to lose weight successfully for a teenage girl?

Hey, this may be kind of long, but I really need a good answer, so I'm going all out on an explanation. I'm a teenage girl and I weigh 230 pounds. After years of bad habits and little exercise, I'm finally putting a stop on this. In the beginning of June, I was ten pounds heavier, and I lost that by just cutting back on portion sizes and eating more fruits and vegetables. I'm going to join Weight Watchers this Friday, and I just want some advice on how to get in to shape again. My ultimate weight goal is 150 pounds, and I would like to weigh that at this time next year. Do you have any tips for staying on your diet, or any exercise regimens that would be both fun and fat-burning? I love soccer, but it's about 100 degrees here every day and my garage gets overheated, so I can't play in there. If I weigh less and am ready to do it next spring, I want to get back in to soccer again. So, I basically just want to improve my lifestyle by not only losing weight, but by keeping it off and continuing to eat healthy. Also, I have acid reflux, but I'm not sure if that's relevant to losing weight. School starts on September 6th for me, and I would like to be 15-20 pounds lighter by then. If you have any tips and tricks on exercise or healthy eating, please feel free to list them! Oh, and also, how much weight do you have to lose to notice? I really appreciate you for taking out time to answer this question for me, thank you so much.

  1. I get your problem. A few years ago I was in 6th grade; in 5th grade and before that I was skinny. But gained a LOT during the holidays (parents are divorced, stayed with my dad. He let me eat ANYTHING) so when I came back, I was pretty chubby. My friends and cousins noticed. When they saw me they said "....you look different" My mother simply said "You gained weight" I felt kind of shit. Got depressed. I didn't do anything until the 3rd term. What I did was, I ate only a little of dinner, but ate healthily throughout breakfast. I also started exercising for around 20mins each day. In about 2weeks my mother noticed. (ate 1000 cals a day. For you 1200-1400 would be healthy). My friends started noticing not long after that, maybe a month? Now after 3years I've stablised, not one says anything about my weight, and some people think I'm skinny. What I don't do now is eat after 6pm. But I pretty much eat what I want as long as its in reason. Instead of a bad day, I just have a bad meal. I exercised 20mins a day by; -walking up and down the stairs -doing step ups .....thats it. I also tried harder in P.E (that helped for me too) Basically the whole thing summed up; -1200-1400cals a day -Cardio exercises atleast 20mins a day -Drink lots of water -Don't eat after 6pm -Eat a lot in the morning to set the course of your metabolism, eat less throughout the day -Have a cheat meal instead of a cheat day so I don't binge Good luck!
