would it be worth it to buy a playstation 2 network adapter?

I heard they are only around 10 or 20 bucks now because the ps2 is pretty dated, but thats what im concerned about. I don't want to buy this if nobody even plays online anymore. I have other questions as well like does the ps2 work the same as the ps3 where you have a gamer id and friends list? When you connect to a game it shows the players gamer ids or it doesn't show anything?

3. there may people playing but there aren't a lot of online games so I would say skip the adapter
