Public Comments

  1. Maybe its A for ar$e bandit
  2. the most popular, they get paid the most. Elton John has sold tons of records, he's a legend and he has lots of $
  3. Someone who is dead famous and would probably be on the front cover of every magazine every week!
  4. Who cares? Frankly, people who spend all their effort getting wrapped around these types of concerns need to get a life. I like Elton John's music, particularly his earlier stuff. Beyond that what list he is or isn't on is of absolutely no concern to me.
  5. An a-list celberty is someone who is always in the news. Who is hot and is the best at what they do.
  6. One who isnt a has been celebrity.
  7. the A list would be one who is at the top of their game, and can bring in the $$ just by being associated with a project, etc. "The A-list is the roster of the most bankable movie stars in Hollywood. The list was created by veteran entertainment journalist James Ulmer, who developed a 100-point method to quantify a star's value to a film production, in terms of getting a film financed and the cameras rolling. "Bankability" is determined for films according to three budgetary levels: * $5 million or less (typically independent productions) * $5 to $25 million * $25 million or over (studio films). A total score of 300 possible points is achieved by adding up the rankings for each budgetary level. Fewer than fifteen stars occupy the A+ list, and these are stars with a solid 300 rating, who include: * Jim Carrey * George Clooney * Russell Crowe * Tom Cruise * Johnny Depp * Tom Hanks * Brad Pitt * Will Smith After years at the top of the A-list, Julia Roberts became the first actress on the A+ list. When an A-list star releases a big-budget movie, it is usually considered a major Hollywood event and generally includes massive worldwide promotion of the film."
  8. A-List celebrities are bankable entertainment people in the entertainment arena. These stars can command huge salaries and, in films, their movies are usually big budget productions (unless they deem to donate their talent to indy films, as did George Clooney). It also means that when there's a public event, these people are the first to be put on a guest list. The list was created by veteran entertainment journalist James Ulmer, who developed a 100-point method to quantify a star's value to a film production, in terms of getting a film financed and the cameras rolling. These stars usually have a 300 rating. Elton John is probably on it because despite many people who don't care for him, there are quite a few who do. His concerts are constant sell-outs and command high ticket prices. He is on it because the public at large has put him on it. Others considered A-list performers include Mick Jagger, Angelina Jolie, Brad Pitt, Julia Roberts, Tom Cruise, Russell Crowe, Celine Dion, Barbra Streisand, Will Smith, and Diddy, to name a few. 9. one that doesnt ASK the press to follow them, also hate 2 say it but they without a doubt have to b famous in the states
  10. A celebrity is a widely-recognised or famous person who commands a high degree of public and media attention. While fame is generally considered a necessary precondition for celebrity status, it is not always sufficient. There has to be a level of public interest in the person, which may or may not be connected to the reason they are famous. A small number of celebrities can be considered 'global', in that their fame has spread across the English-speaking world and even into non-English-speaking cultures. These celebrities are often prominent political figures, Hollywood actors, globally successful pop musicians and sports stars. A celebrity that is known worldwide even in the most remotest of areas. Elton John would fall under this category.
  11. a list celebrities are the celebrities that are well known in all countries , they also get paid more even if you dislike the celebrity x
  12. Someone who is star of a currently released blockbuster movie or a record in the top end of the charts. Or someone who has had success in one or other of the above many times will stay on the A list for longer than a one hit or one movie wonder. Elton John falls into the category of someone who does not have any current or recent hits but has enough of them going back over many years to qualify and it is not surprising that he makes less music now because he is rich enough and has nothing more to prove. The thing about the A list is that not everyone will love all of them, so you may not, but enough other people do to qualify the star to be on the list. You may even think that he is a spoilt immature has been but if enough other people like him or his music he qualifies.
  13. Simple. If they don't get invited to my parties, they're not A-List.

  19. Don't knock Elton John - in the early days he was excellent he just discovered how to sell lots of records and make lots of money so followed that path. As for what makes an A list celebrity, I think it's someone who can 'do something' i.e. act, sing, whereas if you're anywhere else in the alphabet of celebrity, you've probably had your bluetits enhanced and are famous for that. Ps, I had to type bluetits because just 'tits' got censored.
  20. Basically an A-list is a very famous celebrity. Anyone who is described as A-list will be someone that most people in the UK will have heard of. Johnny Depp for example, or Ozzy Osborne. Elton John is A-list because so many people have heard of him. He has had a career that has lasted for many years and this makes him very famous. Even though he is not as popular as he used to be he is still well known by people in general.

  24. I'd say someone who has a modicum of talent in their field of work and has had extensive global media coverage.( But there are millions who excel in their work and don't get recognition.) B celebs don't have much talent, but have media coverage locally.
  25. The bloody media - who else!!!
  26. Given that the definition of a celebrity is somebody who is well known for their well-knowness. An a-list celeb is someone who is exceptionally good at self-publicity & EJ is a true master of the art!
  27. They are the ones at all the best clubs and draw the most people(money). but its the "in club" who vote and they are so fickle, sad but true.
  28. These days, anyone who walks down the street.
  29. sadly to say in this day and age where a celebrity DOES NOT NEED TO BE GOOD AT ANYTHING (I'm talking to Paris Hilton etc...) A definition is hard to come by. In proper terms: anyone good enough at their talent to make lots of money and draw positive attention to themselves, thus forwarding their career. In more realistic terms: Anyone who gets on the front page of the tabloids, regardless of how important/life-changing/drastic the REAL news actually is. In MY terms: Anyone who is a waste of ever-more precious oxygen - i.e. anyone who carries a chihuahua as a fashion statement. I've got it in for ms. Hilton - can you tell?
  30. 1. An A list celebrity is someone who regularly appears on the cover of a magazine or tabloid. They don't have to have talent, but they usually look good. Paris Hilton is a good example of this kind of celebrity. 2. An A list celebrity is also someone who is successful at acting, singing, or sports.

  36. someone that everybody of all age groups knows even if you are not really interested in what they do. for example, i don't think that soap actors are celebs cos i don't know who they are. demi moore is an a lost celeb cos even my 77 year old mum knows who she is even though she most probably has never seen one of her films.
  37. There isn't an actual list or an actual definition as such. A-list celebrities are famous people who are generally agreed to merit their fame. The further down the alphabet you get the more dubious the title "celebrity" becomes.
  38. I don't think that anyone in particular decides. It is just obvious when someone is at the top of their game and can command big bucks.
  39. Is there one? It seems that nowadays anyone can get on it for any reason.
