My kids love going barefoot outdoors whenever they can. Where are some safe places to allow them to do so?

So far I allow them to go: 1. in our home or in their friends homes 2. our backyard or those of people we trust 3. grass fields and play area at our local park 4. motel, beach, boardwalk, and arcade when we go on vacation to the ocean 5. quick car trips to get ice cream at Baskin Robins (the store doesn't mind them not wearing shoes) 6. quick car trips to rent or return movies at the video store (again, store doesn't mind) 7. going to the waterpark 8. outdoor picnics on the grounds at our church 9. outdoor lawn concerts Anything I should add to my list? Anything to remove?

  1. Umm some stuff should be taken off of your list, not added. You don't know what your child might catch walking on the dirty floors of public places like Baskin Robbins.
  2. 5. Then I guess they don't mind getting shut down.
  3. Have you ever heard of Cody Lundin? He's a survivalist there is a link below to his website. He doesn't wear shoes, ever! as it turns out it's healthier for your feet.
  4. The only places i would allow my son to go barefoot would be our house or friends' houses and in our backyard. Possibly hotels because they typically keep indoors clean. Otherwise, you don't know what's on the ground. The beach? Do you know how many people litter? There could be broken glass or rusted cans under sand. When i was little, i was running around the beach and stepped in a still hot bonfire someone just carelessly covered up with sand rather than dousing it with water -- caused me to have 3rd degree burns. Littering can also happen at parks or waterparks (something could be broken and not cleaned up properly). Not to mention the possibility of snakes in grassy fields. My son's 16 months and he hates wearing shoes too. We will go out sometimes without him having shoes on...but if he does, i'm carrying him. If he wants to get down, then he needs to put his shoes on.
  5. Anywhere that they're allowed to. I can't believe how some spend their free time. Making lists of place to go barefoot, this is a new one on me. If you have a bunch of spare time, I have a bathroom that needs cleaning.
  6. 3 i would remove, you never know how careful the dog owners are, #9 and #3 also because you never know when there might be some broken glass or something in the grass that you do not maintain
