Do I have to use UPS for ebay?

If someone could help me out I'd really appreciate it! I listed an item on ebay for a little over ten dollars, and had my shipping price at 2.50. It was a really small item (less than a pound) so I thought the shipping would be cheap. For whatever reason I chose UPS ground (yes I know I'm an idiot now) and apparently it's like nine dollars to ship? I feel like an idiot and I don't know what to do. My mom said I could just mail it USPS through the regular mail and just not buy the UPS shipping label on Paypal. Should I just mail it through the regular mail and then mark it as shipped? I'm afraid if the buyer is super picky then he's going to give me negative feedback if it takes a day or so longer to ship regular instead of UPS. I just didn't realize my mistake before. The guy barely has any feedback and it looks like he's not an experienced ebayer, so would he even notice you think? I'm so stressed out, please help me!

Maybe try contacting the buyer directly and asking them. Im sure it should be ok though
