What are the things to talk abt to make friends at Gym?

I go to the gym where there are many guys and girls of my age go. I am always with my ipod on and don;t talk with anyone. I really like to make friends at gym. I need help in listing down the things to talk abt to make friends in the gym. Here are few things i can think of: - 1. If s'one doing a certain exercise. Ask them abt the benefit of that particular exercise and correct way to do it. 2. While doing your own exercise ask to help in checking your correctness in doing it. 3. Ask for assistance in lifting weights. 4. Compliment on the t-shirts with some slogan or theme. also, should i not use Ipod? may be it is sending signal that I am not willing to be social. Plz, contribute to my list or comments if you don;t agree.

  1. Hey ! I actually go to a YMCA during the whole year. Its right outside my township so yeah almost everyone from my town goes there and I know almost everybody so yeah lol My advice would be lose the iPod lol and approach people in a friendly way. Having and iPod might give them a hint that you don't want socializing
  2. Tricky one really mate as I for one go to the gym to get away from it all... but if you go to make friends then i'm sure your not the only one out there. I wouldn't use the iPod, asking for help with weights is cool and compliments are cool also but be careful not to come across 'too friendly' if you know what I mean.. Peace
  3. 5. compare intimate areas. like organs. 6. hamsters :)
  4. The gym is the best place to meet new people who share similar interests. Are you trying to hit on some ladies or are you looking to start a bromance? There are different tactics for each. First, you need to make it clear to everyone there that you're there to make friends. Lose the i-pod. In fact, you might want to go a step further and get a T-shirt that makes your ambitions clear - maybe something that says, "Want to be my friend?" Or you could wear clothes that indicate a hobby of yours - like a shirt you got from volunteering at an animal shelter or working at Pizza Hut - something people will see and maybe want to talk about. Ask everyone who looks cool if they need a spotter or want some company while they're lifting or running on the treadmill/stairmaster. Also, don't rule out the locker room as a great place to meet guys. You're a cool guy, but maybe sometimes it takes a few minutes for people to realize it - if they're just walking away in the gym, in the locker room, they'll keep getting dressed while you talk to them and then realize you're a great guy before they leave. As you walk out to the parking lot together, they'll probably ask for your number. For girls, don't hesitate to compliment their appearance. If they're sweating a lot from working out so hard, tell them you love the taste of salty flesh - but not in a Hannibal Lecter way, you know? Also, tell them they smell great because lots of girls really care about that. Ask them if they like to shower at the gym or if they prefer to wait until they get home. Or sometimes just share things about yourself and let the conversation flow so they don't feel like they're being interrogated. Also, don't be afraid to touch her on her shoulder, elbow, or arm while talking to create a connection. Always make jokes with dual meanings so it's clear you're interested but not obvious. Take home message here, the gym is the greatest place to meet people and you've figured that out. Now just go get it done. That's why every jail has a yard they let people go into to socialize.
