Wordpress.ORG: Site Design - is this fair?

Hey Everyone, I'm having a friend of mine design the look of my blog that I just migrated. The design is nothing too special. It looks a lot better than a free theme from WP but it's still nothing over the top whatsoever. He's charging me $500 and is also requesting that his name be linked to in the footer as proper credit for design. My blog average 6-7k views per day. I feel like he's benefiting much more from this deal than I am. Let me know your thoughts.

1. That seems very fair to me. I charge over $1000 for wordpress designs. I know it doesn't look very complicated, but it does take a lot of time to design and code a website. Plus, hes not going to get any visitors from a link in the footer of your site anyway, this will only benefit him SLIGHTLY for SEO purposes, which is a fair deal for the price hes charging.
