when you put an offer in on a short sale do they have to change the listing status?

Short Sale Status

Public Comments

  1. Yep
  2. Why would they change the listing status? Until they accept your offer, the status has not changed. Similarly, you can ask a single person out and if they ask for a few days to think about it, they are still "single" status. Once, they accept, the listing status is changed and should be changed (although it may take some time for that to happen, especially with other websites carrying info on the listing.
  3. In many short sales, the lender will require the seller's agent to keep the listing open in order to accept other offers; the lender is not a party to the listing agreement, the lender wants the best possible deal to minimize the lost, so they will want to see any and all possible offers before they decided the fact the seller agreed is immaterial to your sell
  4. No. The status won't change until the property is under contract. The status will then be "under contract".
  5. No, why do that? They might not get other offers then.
  6. Not until the offer has been accepted by the bank.
