1. I think they walk they way Jesus has walked when he went with the cross through Jerusalem, the Via Dolorosa. There are something like 9 stations on the way, little places of worship and they stop there. Some carry a cross on the shoulders during the way. They also visit the Church of the Holy Sepulcher, the Martyrium (a small house where Maria is said to have rested on the way with Joseph on the way to Bethlehem).
