How to convince my parents to let me get an xbox?
My father is old fashioned, and believes in work then reward. I believe that I am smart and have potential , and could get good grades throughout the school year. Is there a way that I may convince him to let me get it before school starts, and promise him to be good? I put up a list of stuff that I am going to do, but he says it is not convincing. Please help... I am not patient. Good answers only

- That's not old-fashioned.. that's a good ethic that will keep you out of debt and trouble. Ask him what he would need to see to prove you've earned one. Save your money toward it and show him you can be responsible.
- I just kept asking and asking and asking and... Then they finally gave me one. :)
- You answered your own question... You said, "I'm not patient". That's says a lot and that's what your dad sees. It's possible that you are even characterized by impatience. This is why your dad wants results and then reward. It's not just old, it's wisdom. "Before privilege comes responsibility." If you really want an Xbox 360, agree on the list of things that you put together that you say you're going to do and then do them. After you've done them, the Xbox is the reward. I'm sure your dad has already said this to you, "Anyone can SAY they'll do something but show me someone who will DO something without saying."
