Do you feed your dog Natural Balance dog food?
If so STOP RIGHT NOW and get you dog to a vet we have lost two dogs and it is all because of the food vets at Texas A&M did an autopsy on one of the dogs and they found it was the food that caused the deaths. Natural Balance dog food was added to the list yesterday.

- Nope, we feed out puppy Pedigree Puppy.
- No... but, thanks.
- Absolutely! I, too, know about the dogs at Texas A & M and the owners are devastated having lost two of their precious dogs and the others still questionable. Where will this food thing end? and when?!?
- lol they are more of a natural feeding group so there is a chance it was the game animal used in it. What in it caused the death? Your vet could be like some I have seen claiming that even Innova was added to the list. Thanks though. It was a side food I fed. EDIT: Ok so I got this from the site. NOTICE: We are receiving consumer complaints regarding the Venison & Brown Rice Dry Dog Food, and Venison & Green Pea Dry Cat Foods. We do not know what is wrong with the food at this time, but we have heard that animals are vomiting and experiencing kidney problems. Although the problems seem to be focused on one particular lot, as a precautionary measure, we are pulling all dates of Venison & Brown Rice Dry Dog Food and Venison & Green Pea Dry Cat Food from the shelves. Please discontinue feeding all Venison and Brown Rice Dry Dog Food, and Venison and Green Pea Dry Cat Food. We are working closely with the FDA. We will update this website today, as more information comes available. NO OTHER NATURAL BALANCE PRODUCTS ARE AFFECTED. So maybe it is the fish (or w/e venison is) that was infected
- my dog has and iron stomatch so i dont really care and yhea i know it sounds cruel but he has eaten worse thing that the vet knows nothin about so no worries
- thanks cough it on the news this morning
- great I just ordered a 30lb bag of venison and brown rice and 2 cases of the wet version, and petco's phone line is busy and they will not email me. I ordered this thinking it was going to be safe. Thank god it did not get here yet, but I have been billed already. I do not know what to do, andI want my money back. What am I supposed to feed my dogs? I want to cry. If you would not of posted this I never would of knowen. Thank you. I just got off phone with petco and they are going to refund my money, and told me to toss it out when it gets here cuz it is in mid shipment. Thanks again. You rock!
- It is just one of their brands the vension and rice in the dog food and venison and peas in the cat food both are dry formulas , and the company has been very responsible in their handling it appear to be one batch only, So if you have any concerns if your batch was effected do phone them 1 (800) 829-4493 they will provide the batch date as of right all the complaints are regarding sept 08 best before date but I would double check incase new dates are added. They pulled the food even before the first animal died and it was known that the dog died of kidney failure even in Canada the affected food has been removed for store shelves in less than 24 hours . as soon as calls came in they put out notices and called in the FDA to help figure out why and investigate, they have been responding to phone calls and even recommending extra precautions. If menu foods and the companies that contracted with them had acted as quickly the death toll that is into the 1000's and illness toll into the 10s of thousands would be dramatically less. Intially they were not even sure if the food is actually the problem when they recalled it or if it is because so many people have changed their pets over the new foods after the pet food scare and being such a totally different food that the pets having problems adjusting to it and therefore reason for upset digestive systems, but noticing a trend of one bag date made in the same week, but they decided not to take any chances and put a recall into effect just to stay on the safe side incase their is an actual problem with the food. They have done one of the quickest pet food recalls in history and have taken the call ins about problems extremely seriously. In this day and age any food can be affected including food that is sold in supermarkets for human consumption unfortunately, The measure of a company is how quickly they act upon a possible problem and how they handle consumer complaints, NB has done extremely well in their handling though I know of a couple people that were feeding the affected food still have a lot of respect for the company and are willing to trust their other foods. I know not everyone will feel that way This website can be helpful it tells who makes what foods http://www.thepetfoodlist.com/petfoods_pg1.htm For example Natural Balance dry foods are packaged by Diamond foods and their canned foods are packed by American Nutrition so for those that are concerned other food may be a problem as well they can check out if Diamond is packaging a certain brand. and trherefore avoid
- No, I feed mine Royal Canin Dry, but thanks for the info.
