When you are invited to a facebook event, do you see your friends first on the list?

When you click on attending, maybe, awaiting and no lists of people don't you usually see your friends first on the list? I'm confused because this guy from high school who I haven't talked to in years invited me to his event..I thought he invited all of his fb friends we have many mutual fb friends but when I click on the lists I only see me and like 5 other people..could the rest be hiding further down the list or do you think he went out of his way to invite me?
