Atheists, so you're saying that IF God is real he's supposed to do EVERYTHING for us?
Here's a common list of complaints I've seen: 1) Not making it rain enough in Africa. (In reality, this is silly. Africa has jungles and not very many people live in the deserts. The REAL reason why people starve is because of HUMANS not sharing food and resources) 2) Not stopping a child from being raped and murdered. (Again, free will comes into play.) 3) Only "curing" people of cancer after they've had medical treatment at a hospital. (Again, this is nit picking. Does it MATTER how God cures someone? God INSPIRED us to have technology which means he gets responsibility because everything comes from him) 4) Insert some argument about how everything is not absolutely perfect. (The reason for this is FREE WILL and ORIGINAL SIN made the world an imperfect place). So, let me get this straight: If there is a God, no one should EVER DIE, and life should be a heavenly bliss? Isn't that unrealistic thinking?

- Not everything, just something.
- There are no gods.
- It's not our claim that he's all powerful and loving. If he existed and was worth taking notice of you'd think he'd do SOMETHING at least instead of absolutely NOTHING.
- No, not sure where you got that idea from. If s/he does exist, s/he should make it more clear for starters.
- Yes, life should be a heavenly bliss, the way you believe heaven will be. If God is omnipotent, he would know the future perfectly. Free will wouldn't exist. He purposefully designed us with flaws that would cause us to break his rules. Ergo, sin is God's fault. Why would God be so cruel to design creatures he supposedly loves with the capacity to do things he hates?
- Cool story bro. Go worship your imaginary friend.
- Lets face it ONE thing would be enough... yet he's incapable of even that! PS, It doesn't matter how many times you shout 'free will' - it doesn't get around the fact that omniscience and freewill are mutually exclusive. Just saying they're not also doesn't make it so.
- a small move would really impress me, but a complete disregard is really a bull!
- Well if it's not God's fault who made this suffering-filled system?
- If your deity was benevolent, as you claim it is, it wouldn't allow us to suffer. This is not evidence against the existence of your deity, only against the claim that it is benevolent. Would you stop your child from running over a cliff's edge, or would you say "Well, he has free will, it's his choice"? If you would stop your child in that scenario, I'd argue that you are morally superior to your alleged deity. Just saying.
- No, I'm not saying that at all. What I am saying is very, very simple: there is no god. No ifs, no buts, no howevers; there simply is no such thing as a god.
- This is one of the best arguments for the non-existence of God. However, it is still bad. If Christianity could not account for the existence of evil and suffering, then this would be good criticism of the the Christian faith. The Bible is very clear on the origin of sin, its nature, its effects, how God feels about it, what he does about it, what he will do about it. In fact, there is even a Christian doctrine and philosophy that deals only with sin. It is called Hamartiology. Atheists, on the other hand, talk out of both sides of their mouths concerning sin. They complain when God doesn't punish sin, then they complain when he does. They then say that since God doesn't handle problems the way atheists think God should, that is proof God doesn't exist. It is arrogant to assume that everyone who doesn't agree with you is mentally deluded. Atheists cannot defend what they believe, so they attack what other people believe.
- The thing is, he actually doesn't seem to be doing anything.
- unrealistic is an invisible magician in the clouds that is responsible for everything. try a little harder next time thumper.
- A restriction like not allowing people to slaughter innocent babies doesn't make me no longer free. And if you think original sin is just, you're almost as bad as your God character.
- Some might, but the overall purpose is to watch you religious fanatics chase your explanations' tails in circle-after-circle. Quite entertaining.
- I am saying that if you go into a Church on Sunday as ask the people in the pews, "Does God answer prayer" and "Does God take a personal interest in your life", the overwhelming majority will say, "Yes!" And, that that feeling by devout Christians is in contradiction to what you claim, and impossible given your claims of free will. (Free will is already impossible with an omniscient God.)
- When God created the Garden of Eden - he did not "have" to put the tree of knowledge in there- he did not have to give free will, he took two innocent people, put them in there, told them "don't touch that" and waited to see how long it would take for them to disobey him. There is a saying that I like: If you knew what would happen, and you made us just the same, then you my Lord are the one to blame.
- First of all I live in Africa,,, stop hating on us! we are not stupid village idiots that run around in the forests and deserts, we are not stupid and useless like you make us out to be!!! Go educate yourself!! Secondly @KRYSTAL you say "Atheists cannot defend what they believe, so they attack what other people believe." Well go look the definition of atheism up, because atheists don't believe in anything! Thus we can't really defend what we believe since you can't defend nothing...and we don't go out of our way to attack people about religion, you religious people come to us and try and convince us that god is real? LEAVE US ALONE!!! Thirdly I don't know about other atheists, but if god exists, which he doesn't, I don't expect us to all live forever, but life should be heavenly bliss...
- No. Not in any way. I'm saying there's no evidence of any kind any god IS real, so it's silly to believe in one. Yes, occasionally I point out the contradictions in your claims about a magical god -- that just shows how self-contradictory and illogical your claims are. Nothing else. If there were a god, there would be evidence of it. There isn't. End of story. Peace.
- Yeah, I think it's unrealistic (and that's being kind), but YOU said it. I'm an atheist and I've never said or even thought anything like the things that you suggest.
- 1. It is the hypocrisy of religions who claim that rain was brought to them because of god. There are many different people who claim that pray for rain. If it rains then they claim that prayers brought the rain. Heck, there have even been politicians in the U.S. that have called for prayers to get rain to our farmlands. If the religious people believe that their prayers can bring rain to us then a god should be bring rain to all people of the world, especially places where people are starving. As for humans not sharing food, have you looked at the economics of shipping large scales of food to places like Africa? It is extremely costly to send large amounts of food. The cost of fuel alone is more than people can easily pay. It would be better if the farmlands of Africa (those that once produced food but now are in a drought) could produce their own food. Also, Africa is not all jungle and there are people living in all parts of Africa. The areas that are under extreme drought are not jungle areas or desert. They are more of a temperate to arid climate. 2. Are you claiming that it is the child's free will to be raped? A monster would think something like that. You may want to restate that comment. The idea is if there is a loving god who is all powerful then why would that god allow something so horrible happen to a child? Reality vs. fantasy. Religion promotes a fantasy but reality does not play by those rules. 3. There are people who pray for cures to their ailments and if a person is cured then these people will claim that it was a god that did the job. If that is true, then why not just cure everyone. A loving god would do that. An indifferent or an evil god would allow the suffering to continue. The statement you refer to is mostly aimed at people who claim that all cures come from a god or gods. 4. There are many in religion who claim that the world and universe are perfect and that this is evidence of a god or gods at play. However, with just a bit of science we can see that the world is very imperfect but it has evolved around those imperfections. Pointing out the imperfections is done to prove that the people who claim the earth is perfect are wrong. The science of the earth shows it to be a natural made thing rather than something perfect that a god cooked up. 5. Religion makes the promise that the world would be better with religion. However, there are many examples of religious people doing horrible things. There are many examples of imbalances that punish perfectly innocent people and reward horribly guilty people. The world shows to be more random than designed. If there was a god at work then the world should show some sort of evidence to back that. However, the world does not. All of these comments you speak of are to show how the world is not managed by some god or gods but is instead a world of natural process and the actions of man are just the actions of man.
