What do I need to start making music?

I am beginning to start making music(writing songs and stuff by my self from "scratch". All I have so far are the speakers on the mac and Guitar Pro 6 (which I do know is horrible for making music, and it is just a tool). So I am looking down the Hip pop/rap area and I just want to know what I need, I have a list so far and maybe you could add or take out to what I need- 1.Good Speakers(I was thinking 2 Bowers and Wilkins 683 and a Sub from the 600 series) 2.A software, maybe Apples Logic 9, but for the time being what would be a good beginner software to work on. 3.Drum Machine Alesis SR 18 4. Mixer, what would be a good one?(relatively inexpensive, but not so inexpensive that its quality is lessoned and it is bad) So what else would I need p.s. For more info I do know how to play the guitar and trumpet but I kind of know the drums, and am starting the piano. Thanks

1. Interesting... I make music on my own and don't have all that software. What I have are two Tascam recorders, one is basically portable and will work on battery if I want to record while out there. It's an 8 track and does 4 track mono and there's two stereo tracks for putting any software samples into it I guess. My 24 track recorder is also a tascam and has EQ and Modules for making the guitar and mikes sound like they were recorded off an amp. I do own this tascam module for taking sounds from my guitar to garage band on a mac or back from the mac to the recorders. If you have garage band you may not need an alissis, but I do own two alisis sr16 because I was cheep and didn't realize they have upgraded and now I want one! LOL All I play is my guitar, bass and keys, the rest I use garage band because you can drag notes into the score to represent what you really love. It is pretty limiting, but it works. I have a free version of this old 90's program for editing sound FX I love I just can't remember the name, but it works really well with my 8 track. I find to be able to make music is the funnest thing in the world! I love to write poems and some of those inspires song. I hope you have a good time making your dreams a reality! I know I do!
