I need suggestions for to-do list software!?

Everywhere I've looked, people only have information about web-based to-do lists. For me, this is counter-productive because most of the time, if I'm trying to get things done, being on the internet isn't helping. I want something that has a nice interface and is more like a program or application. Thanks in advance! I have a smartphone, but I want it specifically on my laptop.

1. If you have a smart phone, download an to do list (such as a GTD based one) program so that you have it on your phone. Remember the Milk is a good one.
