Why do people go on about how "The A-List" shows are a bad representation of the gay community?

Do you ever hear people go on about how "Jersey Shore" or "The Bachelor/Bachelorette" are bad representations of the straight community. Also to ask a question? How many of you would want to watch a show about plain gays with blah jobs and who always get along and never have drama and never fight and never cuss? I think it would be boring!
