do you have to pay the difference if you change a flight the day of?
I know that if i went to switch a flight right now (southwest) i would have to pay the difference, if there is a difference. but say its the day of, if i go to the airport early, would i have to pay more to get on an earlier flight if there was room, or would i not be charged additional fees. just to note again, this is going to the same destination, same airline of course, just earlier time. last time i got on sort of a waiting list to get on another flight, cant remember if i would have been charged more if i did end up making it on that flight. thanks in advanced!

- Yep, and it can be $250
- yes you pay any fees and any increase in fare over what your original price paid was if you want guaranteed access to that flight they only other way to fly earlier is on standby.. and that means basically waiting until everyone else has boarded for that flight and IF there is a seat.. you might be allowed on.. but you will get the worst seat and most likely not be able to store any carry on luggage.
- Normally you do need to pay any fare differences, but I've been given the option of swtiching to an earlier flight with United Airlines for no charge when they knew the flight I was originally scheduled to fly was overbooked. I don't know about Southwest's policies, but it can't hurt to ask. Don't count on it though.
