What do I need to do to live in Montreal for the summer?

I am looking to live in Montreal for this upcoming summer. I am from the U.S. and was wondering what steps I need to take to make this happen. I plan on working there as well. Please list the steps I need to take. Thank you!

1. You can only enter as a tourist and you may not work as a tourist.
2. Based on your nationality you can enter Canada and stay there, as a tourist without working, for up to 90 days (3 months) without any visa or permit whatsoever. If you want to working in Canada you will be required a work visa or work permit. In both cases you need to have an employer that is going to hire you and apply for you to receive the necessary permits.
