What benefit has big labor brought to the American worker over the past 35 years?
airlines--job losses and wage cuts steel industry--job losses and wage cuts auto industry-----all the jobs are being wiped out and the wages are being slashed; and the list goes on and on And now big labor is a leader in advocating amnesty for the illegals in order to drive the wages down even further Is big labor in cahoots with big business?

- I think they still have the jobs bank at GM, where laid off workers can sit around, play cards and collect full pay. But when high costs is brought up as a reason the U.S. auto industry can't compete, the unions wail it's all management's fault. And maybe it is.... for agreeing to such nonsense. Unions made their bed, and I am enjoying them being forced to lay in it.
- Big business with the backing of the republican party have been able to take more jobs from Americans in the last 20 years than they created in the last 50.
- Nothing. Big Labor is fighting the last war. The goal should to be to create high paying occupations that can only be done in America. Not focusing on out dated jobs that America can outsource
- Big Labor back in the 30's and 40's was fine but Labor is now killing us with the high cost of anything they have to do with. No wonder we out source jobs. How do you like paying $40,000 for a car that actually cost $15,000 to make!
- what has happend is that labor jobs can be done by anybody and with global trade, it is not necessary to pay american workers minimum wage. the problem is that people in other countries are all capable of doing labor jobs, and will be satisfied with earning less. the way out is to learn something that distinguishes you from everybody else. learn a skill, go to school, do something. the last thing you should be doing when times are tough is to force your economy to be less competitive by demanding higher wages for unskilled labor.
- Wages may be down for the American worker but labor executives are raking it in, and that's what counts!
- Since Reagan busted the unions when he was in power would have to say not much.
- one can argue over the need of unions .but without them we would'nt have a pott to piss in the same goes for health ins. why do we pay so much for a ( ecxample ) car which costs less then half to produce has many reason benefits etc. and the salarys the mgmt. is packing in plus many bad decisions made by mgmt..the wages are not so great like so many people think. but when you have to pay 200-500.000 $$ for a house and the taxes which go with it $ 20.00 dollars an hour before taxes is not very much at all.since reagan - busch times the mfg industry has suffered a lot and wages went ,down, down. i am living in a third world country now because i can not afford to live in the US anymore.this is not land of honey.
- No electronic industry and when I was your age only the Volkswagen Beetle was around, Now parking lots of US car makes are full of foreign cars, as are the roads,
