how do you file a complaint against american classifieds in tallahassee, florida the peeps who run it?????
hi all. i have a question. i was trying to put an ad in the american classifieds ads. i get an email saying taht i have to list as an business account. all i was trying to do is sell my chihuahua puppies. well i called them up to find out when they started this policy because back in octoberr last year i had an ad for the same thing and i did not list it as a business ad. see with a business you have to pay for the ad. instead of using the free ads. i have been waiting since the pups wre weeks old to put them in the paper and online. they did yesterday list the ad in the online section. the perspn i spoke to on the phone told me that they have had this policy for a long time. i told her not since october because i had the ad in the there for the same thing and the proof to show it. well i finally spoke to the owner and he hung up on me. i dont know for sure if its the owner or not but he says he was. and acted like he didnt care what i was saying. all he said was jen have a nice day

- The free ads are there as a public service to help get homes for strays or help folks with unexpected litters. A newspaper is not required to do this. If you are raising pups to sell, its a business and the newspaper has a right to expect you to pay for advertising. How do you think they make money?
- look in the paper itself and see if there is another number to call, like a customer care number if not file a complaint with the bbb. see if maybe you can talk to someone else about the matter. if none of these work, take your business elsewhere like postaroo.com or the tallahassee democrat both sources have free ad posting on the web and the tall democrat also has free listings in its classified section of the paper. Good luck
- Sorry to say but there is nothing you can do. If it was the first time and they called you for money you might have had a case. That your dog had puppies, you were unclear on the rules as they were not clearly stated and you thought you might make a buck or two. But your dog had puppies again in a very short period. If it was a mistake the first time the judge will ask you why you did not have the dog spayed. So whether true or not you know it looks like you are a business.... the base definition is that you are profiting. Then the judge will ask you why if you are going to make money on this why you would not pay for an ad because you probably make far more than that from selling. Again it will still look like you are a business. And most papers have something in the paper, that you check or agree to on the phone regarding that you agree to the terms and conditions of placing an ad. That they also reserve the right to remove or not to place an ad. They know this and thats why the paper is secure in telling you to take a hike. Again....... sorry you won't have a case and the paper has lawyers to deal with this sort of thing so you would be at a disadvantage. Though not likely for this tiny bit of money they (or a judge) might notify someone. Animal control because there are a lot of statutes in most places regarding this especially regarding animals. One is (and they have proof twice over) not applying for a business license.
