Will car manufacturing be added to the list of jobs Americans won’t do?

If the stakes are high for General Motors Corporation are stakes for their employees any less? If increasing revenue and holding down overhead is good for the health of a corporation. Then why is it bad for a employee of that corporation to want the same thing for themselves? If the median price of a home is $246,500. What is the median price of a home in China? “No business which depends for existence on paying less than living wages to its workers has any right to continue in this country” Franklin D. Roosevelt

  1. Nice FDR quote....FDR also expected Social Security to be a short term fix.
  2. Wow -- don't know what answer you are looking for but I'll tell you this.....very well written!!!! I'm impressed. Someone's "thinking" today ---- maybe it's a sign that some questions on here may end up intelligent afterall!!
  3. Only if the politicians who are fond of using this phrase want another excuse to support illegal immigration.
  4. If people keep complaining so much and striking Gm mite pack up and go to China or Mexico.
  5. Part of the problem is: The never ending demands by the American Wage earner. I know I'll get my tail handed to me on this but, sorry if the truth hurts. Union demands have also hurt. Everybody demands Free medical for everybody in the wage earners family. That costs employers ungodly. Then there are the sick time abusers. Everyone here can probably provide a list of names in their own workplace of the "day a month" club. So, there certainly are enough people here in America who have shot themselves in the foot by never ending & costly demands. Who here would give into the never ending & costly demands all the time, and NOT look at cheaper ways out? You would not stay in business very long if you keep cutting your profit margin. This is a business reality. I too want to see jobs remain here in America. I too would love to see an end to farming jobs out overseas but..... The harsh reality is, the only way that can happen is when the American wage earner comes to the realization that he can't always get what he wants in abundance. Somewhere that has to be common ground where the workers understand that bigger co-pays, like I do these days, is a concession they have to make, Or be unemployed. Sucks, doesn't it?
  6. you bet ye, who wants to drive an American car anyway, the rich drive Mercedes, the poor drive Honda's, and the rednecks drive chevies I guess.
  7. Funny that you mentioned this, but you may want to research more into this matter. We have been building not only all the American cars here, but also most Japanese cars too for years now. Honda, Nissan, Toyota, Hyundai, Kia, and Mitsubishi. Also Saab, Volvo, Subaru, and BMW. People act like we "won't" do so many different jobs. Well we must earn enough to support ourselves and our families, so when so many companies discover that they can pay immigrant workers such a significant amount less......and get away with it, then no, we wont work those jobs because we can't live on the wages that they give to immigrant workers. Especially if those immigrants are "illiegals," then they cannot complain about their pay rates because then the employer can get them deported or simply just fire them and hire the next one that comes along. It sucks that we have to deal with it, but oh well. People can go on making their assumptions when they are only looking at what they choose to.
