Hello everyone, i have a question on opening up a business in New York state?

I would like to know how I could open up a new business that would allow customers to basically come into the establishment, enjoy a drink and smoke a cigar. I know that the No-Smoking ban went into effect in mid 2003, however, I have heard of some sort of "smoking" permits a business can purchase and some additional rules and policies that they need to enforce in light of the smoking in the business. Also, I wanted to know what had to be done to have a room in the establishent in order to provide some sort of "smoking" room. I have heard that there would be a ventilation system of some sort in order for you to follow the rules and policies. The details listed above is the reason I am asking, I have heard you could do this and cant seem to find the proper information for this in order to do this.

  1. Actually, the only type of business where smoking is allowed inside a public building in New York State is in smoke shops. There's this place in syracuse called Crazy Al's smoke shop, where they serve alcohol and cigars, cigarettes, etc. and you can smoke inside. I would contact your local State Congressman and ask them exactly what you would need to do in order to lawfully allow smoking in your establishment. They are pretty helpful with things like these.
  2. make sure you allow tobacco pipe smoking too...
