How to seek redress and recover my monies cheated by a LLC in New York.?

I communicated with a company in New York after obtaining their contact from the internet business listing. The company is registered in New York and has a impressive website. I bought some goods from them after viewing some pictures they sent. After remitting some monies for deposit as agreed, they failed to effect any shipment. The US dept of commerce met them at our request, but they claim that they are under serious financial difficulties and unable to make refund. But they are still updating their website regularly to attract customer. They are obviously out to cheat innocent people.
