Can some body make a List Top 10 Stars according to their Diameters ?
Which One is the Biggest of ALL , and where our sun stands ,curious to know. Thanks !

- This list already exists: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_largest_stars Our sun would not make it on such a list. It's fairly small.
- Google "largest stars": http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_largest_stars Sol, our sun, is a medium-sized, totally unexceptional star. It only appears so big and bright to us because we are very close to it in astronomical terms.
- There is a class of stars known as 'hypergiants', which are as much as 120 Solar masses. I don't know a lot about these, but two of the biggest are Eta Carinae and the Pistol Star, which each have radii at least a hundred times that of our Sun.
- The largest known star in the Milky Way is VY Canis Majoris or VV Cephei depending on whch model of the former is correct. VY Canis Majoris is either 1st or 11th. If it is 11th, then Betelgeuse slips into 10th place. 8 of the top 11 are red giants, supergiants or hypergiants. All but one of these 11 are within 5,000 light years from us. Stars much further away than that are not really bright enough to be seen and identified easily. Measurements are in multiples of our own Sun's Solar Diameter. On this scale its diameter is 1 Name Diameter VY Canis Majoris (Humphreys Model) 1800-2100 VV Cephei 1600-1900 V354 Cephei 1520 KW Sagitarii 1460 KY Cygni 1420 Mu Cephei (Herschel's "Garnet Star") 1420 V509 Cassiopeiae 910 V838 Monocerotis 800 V382 Carinae 747 Antares (Alpha Scorpii) 700 Betelgeuse (Alpha Orionis) 650 VY Canis Majoris (Massey-Levesque-Plez Model) 600 Somewhat lower down the batting order are: 24th Eta Carinae 400 29th The Pistol Star 340
- Well, i dont think anyone can do that... if you take all the stars.. we know just a fraction of universe.. there could be really big stars present away than what we think are Biggest today.. so in my opinion this list cannot be made unless and until we roam all this universe to take this poll out!!!
