what is the name for a townhome that has a business on the first story and home on the top story/stories?

Heard somewhere they were building them in the shelby township MI area.

1. That type of product is called "live/work". The "live/work" category however is not limited to the business being solely on the first story and the residence above; nor is it limited to a townhome configuration. In other cases, the townhome, loft, or other residential product could have two entrances on the ground floor - one for the business that is in the front half, and one for the residence that is in the back half (usually accessed through the garage); the residence would also carry on to the topy story/stories as well.
2. This kind of building is hugely poular in the UK and Ireland. They simply call it "commercial property" in the real estate magazines.
3. Here its called "mixed use".
