what is the name for a townhome that has a business on the first story and home on the top story/stories?
Heard somewhere they were building them in the shelby township MI area.

- That type of product is called "live/work". The "live/work" category however is not limited to the business being solely on the first story and the residence above; nor is it limited to a townhome configuration. In other cases, the townhome, loft, or other residential product could have two entrances on the ground floor - one for the business that is in the front half, and one for the residence that is in the back half (usually accessed through the garage); the residence would also carry on to the topy story/stories as well.
- This kind of building is hugely poular in the UK and Ireland. They simply call it "commercial property" in the real estate magazines.
- Here its called "mixed use".
