  1. The psi is what you look for. Strong ones can damage your home. It etched my brick.
  2. I found these online...not at Home Depot or Lowes
  3. We have a Durabilt pressure washer that we got at Lowes and I think it was around $100 about a year ago. It works just fine. Seems to have plenty of power for me.
  4. I have one that has 2500 psi. I have found it is strong enough to do what I want it to but not strong enough to tear things up. Try and find one that has an adjustable head on it. That way you can adjust the spray pattern to get the pressure that you want. That is better than having to replace different nozzles all the time.
  5. Get one similar to this. Look for around 1600 PSI. Both places you mentioned sell them for $100 or less. http://www.amazon.com/Simoniz-1750-PSI-Pressure-Washer/dp/B000R9Z8XI/ref=sr_1_81/103-0128198-3402255?ie=UTF8&s=hi&qid=1185631808&sr=1-81
  6. The power of a pressure washer I dont think is the focus of concern here. A P/W works best when the nozzle is about 12 inches away from the object to be cleaned, no matter what pressure the pump is providing.(mine is 2550 psi) I think what you need is a longer wand. I found mine at Northerntool.com it is a 5 foot wand. It has really helped me reach the soffit and the gable ends of my house.
