I want to start my own auto detail business out of my home. What to think about to start?

One of my favorite things to do is to clean my truck from top to bottom. This hobby is very rewarding when I see how beautiful my truck is when it is clean. I'd like to think this would be a great business adventure because I like it so much and don't see it as being "work". Plus, if I can make a money this would be an added bonus. Any thoughts or advice would help. As of now, I have my husbands shop he will let me work out of. There aren't many detail shops around here where I live, therefore, I think it would be a very profitable adventure.

1. That's good you can use a shop for it. Just start advertising. Want even more business. Get a reliable CLEAN van, load it with cleaning supplies and hit businesses. You can clean your customers car as he/she is at work without them having to drop it off to you. Convenience is key nowadays. Good Luck!!!!
2. First off, be careful turning what you love into what you make money with. Turning it into a job could possibly kill your enthuisiasm. Sometimes its just nice to do things for fun or to give yourself a way to vent. Second, start with your local licensing office. They should have exactly what you need - a checklist for everything they require to make it legal. (You don't want to get busted by the IRS or likewise.) Third, from there start pounding pavement. Go to VistaPrint and get free or cheap business cards, put them on car windows, in helth food stores, etc. Call mechanics and ask if you can put some there, call businesses and ask if you can setup a time/date and offer there employees a discount, etc. Get creative. With an independent one man business, advertising doesn't have to cost much. You might also try to find a mentor online who can help you out. Do some Google searches. Oh and remember, 80% of running a small business is common sense and organizational skills. As long as your not a sloppy flake, you'll do fine! And good luck!
