Unwanted banners on the internet?

Recently I stayed at a hotel while working in Northern California. I used my laptop over their wireless internet service. Much to my surprise, when I got home and used my lap top almost all the banners on the internet are advertisements for that particular hotel. There are also banners for other businesses in that area. How do I remove this bug from my computer? I have the latest anti virus software on my computer, so I am not sure how it compromised the security. However, I am not a whiz with computers either.

1. it may be spyware-adware that's affecting you try downloading some free anti spyware-adware called spybot search and destroy and running scans from here http://www.safer-networking.org/en/home/index.html if that doesn't work try empting your temporary internet files folder to do this with internet explorer 7 click on tools >>internet options and on the general tab under browsing history click the delete button when the next box appears click the delete all button that should do it
2. Those stinkers! You can't use your computer anywhere without someone trying to get money from you! Here's what to do: 1. With the browser off, go to your Control Panel (Start -- Control Panel). 2. Click Network and then Internet Options. 3. In the section in front of you, click Delete Browser History. 4. On the next window you see, click all the delete buttons one at a time. Doing this will clear your temporary Internet files, cookies, history, etc. Doing this will remove any bias your system has regarding your geography. Now, as you use your computer, your browser will figure out where you live (what part of the country, not your address) and tailor your searches to your location in the country. Good Luck.
