What jobs are highest in demand, or make the best money for the time spent, and is a 2yrcollege even worth it?

I never went to college, if i did go it would only be for a two year degree, but it seems like the occupations available nowadays that don't require some college can pay just as good as ones that do. It almost makes me rethink going, i mean, I'm upset that I don't have any college background ,but, as a server, I make such good money and work so little hours that I'm almost thinking about not ever attending. A few of my friends work in positions that requires a 2yr degree and yet somehow I'm making more money than any of them and working less hours on top of that. The work is not hard for me at all and i don't think it will be for many many years to come, should i really even think about college? The only downside is i get no benefits, but everything else is great. And the 40 hour a week business job does not appeal to me whatsoever, because I would rarely get to see my husband. Serving is a bit demeaning to call my career, but it speaks pure money,... :/ suggestions? The only reason I do not like to serve is because i can only make the money i do in fine dining, and i get alot of rich doctors, lawyers, architects, etc... its a constant reminder of how unimportant my career is to society compared to theirs. I'm always online trying to learn something new but I know it will never apply to my job and no one will ever know my true skills.

  1. Nursing is by far the easiest job to get for the money and the most in demand. It is also open-ended allowing for increasing pay rates with paid education and speciality.
  2. College is not for everyone. If you are happy in your job and have a satisfying life, keep doing it. However, college is not necessarily a way to get a better job. My sister was married, raised children and did not work, but over the years she completed the AA degree simply because she enjoyed learning. She is now fluent in Spanish, and is learning Italian. At 76 she is taking classes in computer art and enjoying her new skills in organizing family photos. College can be very enjoyable without it leading to a different career. The world needs people who are happy serving others. If everyone went to college to get a high paying job, who would do the work that does not require the skills you earn in school? We need servers, drivers, street sweepers, and lawn cutters. You are contributing to the needs of society and are happy doing it. Why change?
  3. it depends on what you really want to do in life. We can't tell you what to do and a 2 yr college is nothing to employers these days. I have a 2 yr degree and I am only working part time. I really need a full time position, but every interview I went on, they asked me why I didn't finish school. If you don't like to serve, but you have been helping people, you can still go to a 2 yr college and study nursing. They don't work the typical 40 hour week and some nurses do work nights.
