sims 2 businesses?

how does that work, do u have to check in to see how much money ur making or does it just give u the money like every hour or so or what? and how do u get a business to get alot of money, i bought a clean lot and tryed to make a store but theyve made alot of money(about 600k, now 200k after i build their 300k+ home, both sims went to college, graduated summa cum laude, and have been at the top of their careers bring home around 10k a day) and i dont know how to manage their money well, but i like the idea of the businesses but dont know how to start brand new ones, i bought the 123 gym for around 45k and worked their and sold it for about 65k so i can do the businesses that are already in the game. but what are some tips on starting a brand new business.

1. It's good to read up what's in the manual. It gives good tips. Also, Sims2.com and snootysims.com have great info. Basically, to start up a business by scratch, it's like buying a lot. You add in what you want, add in an open sign, then use the phone to hire employees. When you click on them, you'll see options for stuff like training, firing, setting their uniforms, and a bunch of other options. Whatever you have them doing, they'll keep doing the job until you tell them to stop (you'll have to watch their needs). If they're new at a job, say, cashiering, they'll earn badges as they progress. Higher badges means more pay, and faster service. I forgot how you have to do it, but you can hire a staff member to be a manager and they'll look in on your store while you're away. You can call from home to check in on your store. As far as making the money goes, when you're playing your business lot, you either make the money there, or you lose it. When you're playing on a home lot, unless it's a home business, I don't think you earn any money from your business, but then again, I can't really remember it either.
2. The above answer is good just want to add that to hire a manager the employee has to have a total of 6 points in badges. gold is 3, silver is 2, bronze is 1. Once you have a manager your sim can call in from their home phone each night before midnight to get money from the store. After a period of time the sim will have to visit the store to continue to get income.
