How do you add an internal search function to search within your website using html?

I want to add a search function so ppl dont have to go thru a long list and find things for themselves, how do I do this with html or other web design code?

1. you can add a customized google search engine to your website, google provides the code to add to your website A search engine can search through all the posts in your website, and not only the page that is displayed. It is particularly useful if you have a website with several links and a lot of text. Google indexes them and makes it easy to search within your site, moreover you can add google Adsense to display ads alongwith the search results and generate some revenue by ad clicks
2. first: people dont have time to even search for the search box in ur website second: browsers have an inbilt search function to search for text on a web page try Ctl+F in firefox pheww...why its too hard for anyone to have control on thoughts when u r idle? fantasy
3. There's no search function in html. If you mean site search - use Google Custom Search http://www.google.com/coop/cse/ -- if you mean search on one page then as someone noted you can press Ctrl + F in any browser and it will pop a page search dialog.
