how come it takes 5 business days to delete an mail from a mailing list?

i know it does not take this long because some sites take it off instantly and others in 24 hours. so why does it take others 5 days? is the only reason so they can send you more junk mail?

1. Usually your name is deleted immediately from the mailing list. But some mailings are already in cue to be sent out at a certain day and time. So if they cue their emails say a week in advance yo will get the emails for the rest of that week.
