- TheronsRite was on point when he wrote "The Alchemist" that book is amazing. Also try books written by Joanne Fluke she is one of my favorite authors. Her books come in a series called "The Hannah Swensen Mysteries." There are like 9 books in the series all with food titles. The books are amazing.
- Boy's Life by Robert McCammon One for the Money by Janet Evanovich The Husband by Dean Koontz
- The Catcher in the Rye by J.D. Salinger Life After God by Douglas Coupland Cruddy by Lynda Barry Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close by Jonathan Safran Foer This Boy's Life by Tobias Wolff
- Jane Austin- "Sense and Sensibility" (Old English romance) Two sister's quest for a husband, and what they learn about life and love Nicholas Sparks- "A Walk to Remember" (romance/drama) Bad boy falls in love with Preacher's daughter. She has plenty to teach him about life and what matters. John Grisham- A Time to Kill (courtroom drama) Warning: the story deals with some disturbing elements, but it is SUCH a great story! Will really make you think. The brutal rape of a child causes her father to murder the two pervs. Now he's on trial. Can his young, idealistic lawyer save him from the gas chamber? James Herriot- "All Creatures Great and Small" (animals, the beauty and humor of life) such a great writer. If you like animals at all, you'll love his books, but don't worry, they're not children's books. Also the sequels: "al things bright and beautiful" "All things wise and wonderful" and "The Lord God Made them all" Stories from the life of a country veterinarian. His take on the world around him, life, the quirkiness of different people. Charles Dickens: "A Tale of Two cities" or "Oliver Twist" or others. Those are all great books for teens and adults. BTW.. by "romance" I do not mean x rated or containing sex scenes. They're clean. "A Time to Kill" comes closest to crossing the "adult situation" border, but nothing explicit. All of the above mentioned books have their movie counterpart, and all those movies are great. James Herriot's books have a Brittish BBC TELEVISION SERIES counterpart (instead of one movie) called "All Creatures Great and Small" that my library has, but don't know if yours will. For a lighter mood, try anything by Dave Barry. You'll die laughing. "Dave Barry's Greatest Hits" and "Dave Barry is not Taking this Sitting Down" and "Dave Barry Slept Here" and "Dave Barry hits below the beltway" are all wonderfully delightful nonsense!! I love them!
- Redeeming Love by Francine Rivers. It is great for any woman. It is a novel. Once you start it, you can't put it down. You will relate with the characters. Just read a few pages and you will be hooked! I promise you will love it.
