Latest Lists

Is there a site that lists all the stars and constallations etc?

Every site I've found just has current astronomy events or history, no lists of any sort.

  1. what have you searched then? many MANY sites contain the list of the 88 constellations and I've found several others that include star names, messier objects, NGC and IC objects. maybe you should start here. and follow up with a search for "constellations"."star names", etc...
  2. http://www.stellarium.org/ It's a nice download that gives you all the stars, constellations, and views, etc.
  3. This website has a downloadable database that contains ALL stars that are either brighter than a certain magnitude cutoff (magnitude +7.5 to +9.0) or within 50 parsecs (about 160 light years) from the Sun.=>http://www.astronexus.com/node/34
  4. http://www.worldwidetelescope.org/ I use Stellarium as recommended above, and this one is still very new but I have used it and it is very good too. Both are completely FREE. Enjoy!
  5. http://www.shatters.net/celestia/download.html download this, all the stars and constellations are in it + you can see them, move around and the galaxy and all the universe how you want, also all planets and exoplanets are there+ the time dimension totally free! have fun :)
  6. There are more stars in the universe than grains of sand on Earth. I'm not surprised theres no "site that lists ALL the stars and contellations etc"
