I want to close a business name and open it in another name. How do I proceed with this?

I have a contracting business listed in ocean county NJ... I now reside in union county and i think I have to re-list the name in the county you are doing business in??? I also want to change the name of the business too, but i don't know how to proceed. I have a sub "S" corp and want to change to an LLC... Is this simple or a real pain in the you know what?????
