How can I give these cats away or list them online?
We live on a nice sized lot (5 acres) and there is plenty of room for animals to run. We have 5 dogs and (I think 6) cats. We are moving soon and can't take the cats with us because we are moving to a 3bed3bath with a small yard. And we wouldn't want to release the cats outside where they could be hit by a car. I would like to list them online for adoption because I think more people would see it that way. So any site suggestions where I can list them would be helpful. Here is a video of them: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Yw0TODZXejs All the cats in the video are adoptable except Sissy. I was going to keep her but she dissapeared. Anyways, what are some suggestions. We would like to give them away before the open house. Thanks for any advice you can give!

- craigslist.org
- Craigslist.org is great. I used it to give away some ferrets. Also the local paper and word of mouth. Tell some people at work.
- I recommend that you find a cat rescue organization that can screen adopters and make sure they are well cared for. Believe it or not, there are people who respond to free ads for pets and take the pets only to sell them to laboratories for research. Go to petfinders.com and look for the link at the top of the page to find shelters or rescue groups in your area. Call the groups individually until you find one that has room for your cats. You may find that there is no one group that can take all 6 cats, so you may need to place them with different groups. Look for a rescue group rather than an animal control. Rescue groups will screen adopters and most do a very good job of placing pets in appropriate homes. Response to poster above.... Craig's list prohibits the posting of live animals for sale.
- Get in touch with your local humane society. Many of them have "owner assisted adoptions". You keep the animals in your house, instead of surrendering them to the shelter, but the shelter will keep a listing of the animal(s) at the building for any potential adopters. If they have a webpage, they will list the animals on there, as well. If someone comes to the shelter and wants to adopt your cats, the shelter will put them in contact with you and it goes from there. Do not, however, advertise "free to a good home". Many people with less than good intentions will scoop up those animals for heinous purposes.
- Put an add in your local newspaper or make flyers and put them up in place such as a vet peopel are always looking
- You can try your local craigslist or www.spca.org
- I am sure you can find somewhere for them. They are so beautiful. Start in the local shops.. And dont' leave it to late... You need kitty to get use to the new owner... Good luck...
- You're keeping the dogs but not the cats? 6 cats would be NO problem for a 3 bedroom apartment. Were the cats spayed and neutered? There's a huge pet overpopulation problem in this world - - spaying andnutering are the only way to go nowadays. I can only hope that when you give these cats away they go to loving responsible homes.
- Take an ad out in your local paper. There is someone out there that will take them.
- take them to a no kill shelter
- You can post your pets on www.craigslist.org, just find the city closest to where you live and post it on there. You cannot "sell" them, but rehoming with a small adoption fee is okay. If I were you, I would ask for some kind of adoption fee because there are always creeps out there looking for free pets for disturbing reasons... Just make sure you post these in the "pets" section.
- I always cringe when I see cats outside not on a harness and leash, but that is just my personal belief. I would contact every person I know and have them do the same and so on. I would also contact all relatives as well. There are "fosters" who take in animals until they are adopted into permanent homes. You should look into programs like that. If you really are at a loss, you could put ads around the internet. They seem to be very sweet loving kitties. I would love to be a foster parent if I could. You can keep them you know. Just don't let them outside. There is nothing cruel about that. They live longer, and you protect the environment. Cats destroy the ecosystem when introduced. They kill anything and everything-it's built in. Keeping them indoors is not going to make them sad. Just get a few litterboxes, a laser pointer, a big cat tree house, lots of catnip, toys and all that. Being outside is pretty dangerous for them. Cat's can be trained to do all sorts of silly tricks too. Just as easily as a dog. It makes your bond stronger and they are eager to learn. So if you can't find homes, bring em with you.
- I"m not sure where. but they are beautiful cats, and look very sweet from the video.i'm sure you would have no problem giving them away. friends are the best way, word of mouth travels fast, but it doesn't hurt to have it online too, even try posting flyers in your neighborhood. sorry i couldn't be more help.
- Nice cats do you live in Australia or not ???
- I think that you should put a ad in the local paper and flyers up so that people will adopt your kitties.
- there r a few things that u can do post a sign at a grocery store, post it online on your myspace if u have one or ask a friend to do so for u, try a commercial office plaza and post a flyer in the mail rm, also tell all ur friends to tell all their friends, you could even try pet store's they might be alble to give u a hand.
- Like all the other people said go to craiglist because i looked for months to find a kitten and i finallly found one of craigslist and alot of other people get good results and i think alot of people use that web site.
- www.kijiji.com you can list anything on there and its totally free
- Find the freecycle.com website for your area (usually yourtownfreecycle.com) and post their availability there. Be sure to post the youtube link as well, if able.
