Is their an online list of American soldiers in World War II?

I just wanted to see one and...well I know this may be silly....but I want to see my great-grandfather's name on there. I don't know why, I just do.

1. This will help some: http://www.wwiimemorial.com/ I haven't found a database online though that lists them all. You may want to find a site dedicated to veterans or perhaps one about fallen soldiers. I just know that is the most likely site to have the information you wish to find.
2. For the same reason I wanted to see my grandfather's name. You can try Military.com, you'll have to register (its free). To tell you the truth its sort of a long shot, unless you have an out-of-this-world uncommon last name, i'm sure you wont find him. But keep up your search, maybe you'll get further than I did.
3. I woud assume googling woud be a good bet, OR, call your local library & ask for someone in the history department. much luck!
4. my family was in the navy as well as my self. if you can find a name of a ship you just may get lucky. best wishes
