What are the pros and cons of kids having text messanging in list form please?

on the computer? umm who cares jsut let um do it. let them use like msn if ur worried or they are really young to keep them otua some of the crap chatrooms that aprobly arnt good for them to see. if they are like 1 6or somethin let them use whatever they want. if its on a phone.. tell them they have to get a jopb to pay for that shit themselves or they will grow up lazy as shit and want u to do everythign for them.
pros: keeps them in touch with other people cons: using it when they are supposed to be doing other things, costs a lot of money (if they overuse the privelege), time better spent on other things... hope this helps!
Pros: They can chat with their friends. They can leave you a text without having to bother you at work. Cons They can abuse the amount of text messaging and end up with a big bill. The con my 12 year old did. I gave her 200 text messages. Thought that would be enough. She ended up text messaging one of those adult meet your mate live text chat. They (her friend and her ) did this for 5 hours straight. That shot the 200 messages. Besides this adult text chat was charging $1.99 per message and then somehow she got signed up with different companies for membership (18 and over) It has been a nightmare. They are still charging me. The first bill was $450.
