Is there a way to find out the value of a book?

I have come across a book called "Arthur's Valentine" and the copyright year is 1980, but it states "second printing". I've done some research and the firt edition was printed in 1980. I know that collectors perfer first printings, but I can't seem to find another one of these books listed on the internet that have the same copyright year. My question is, how do I find out how many copies were made of this particular book during the copyright year to see if it is in fact rare and if there is any value behind it? Hope you can help. Thank you.

  1. Yeh luk up at da net lol
  2. See if there are any on ebay. Whatever other people will pay for something is what the true value of it is. To find out how many copies were made, try writing to the publisher. Good luck and God Bless.
  3. Whenever I want to see of any of my books are worth anything, I look at Abe Books. They seem to be a second hand book seller. Usually there are one or two copies for sale and will give a vague idea of how much your books are worth. I put in 'Arthur's Valentine'. There is another 1980 copy listed. CHeck the ISBN with yours too see if it is the same. Sadly doesn't look like it is worth much at all.
  4. take it to a good secondhand book shop they will be able to help you
  5. www.amazon.com (will give you price range in detail) www.ebay.co.uk (you can try to see if any paperback is available)
  6. It's highly unlikely a book written so recently has much monetary value. Even first editions, with covers, don't fetch huge sums, unless they are also very popular like Tolkien.
  7. would really need to know the author, isbn, and publisher to give more details, there are 3 books that almost match these details - http://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/0394631455/?tag=yah.007-21 no details of author or publisher, but publication date is close this looks like the one - http://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/0316110620/?tag=yah.007-21 unfortunately according to amazons sales rank, their isvery little demand for this book, and also their are a number of other copies currently available from a penny! http://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/0316115908/?tag=yah.007-21 written by Mark Tolan Brown, published by Little Brown & Co, is a 1999 reprint though no copies appear to be available but also theirisno indication of demand as no sales rank is quoted!
