  1. WOW! i did not know that. i have read the book and i wouldn't know why it would be banned. it's a good book.
  2. Probably because some uptight idiot got upset that it has graphic violence in it and asked that it be banned. The ALA doesn't ban books, they just keep a list of challenges, as I understand it.
  3. Just because a book is on a banned list it doesn't necessarily mean it's banned in the US. Another country may have banned the book or certainly a religious organizations could have due to the "possessed" car. But I do know the book was sold and has always been sold in the US.
  4. i couldnt find why it was banned. but those goosebump books were banned from schools because they were to scary, im sure thats the only reason why it was banned
  5. I didn't know it was. I've never read the book, but from the movie I can't see how it would be banned. There are other novels out there that are horrible and instead should be banned...
  6. It's not banned at my library.
  7. Everything King has written has been banned from some school or library. A few years ago the top three banned authors in North America were Judy Blume, Stephen King and John Steinbeck.
  8. I don't know about "Christine," but “Different Seasons” by Stephen King was removed from the West Lyon Community School library in Larchwood, Iowa (1987) because “it does not meet the standards of the community.” It was removed from the Washington Middle School Library in Meriden, Connecticut (1989) after a parental complaint. It was also challenged at the Eagan High School in Burnsville, Minnesota (1992). The movies “Shawshank Redemption,” “Stand by Me,” and “Apt Pupil” all were based on short stories in this novel. “It” was challenged at Lincoln, Nebraska school libraries (1987). It was placed on a “closed shelf” at the Franklinville, New York Central High School library (1992). And “The Stand” by Stephen King was restricted at the Whitford Intermediate School in Beaverton, Oregon (1989) because of “sexual language, casual sex and violence.
