- The Scarlet Letter Anything by Shakespeare The Handmaiden's Tale
- Wuthering Heights Crime and Punishment Madame Bovary War and Peace Anna Karenina The Idiot The Trial The Castle I didn't necessarily enjoy all of them but sometimes just the uplifting feeling of finishing them can make up for the tough struggle through (I think I'm centrally referring to War and Peace)

- Exodus by Leon Uris Paradise Lost by John Milton World as Will and Representation by Arthur Schoepenhauer Travels with Charlie by John Steinbach anything by Charles Dickens anything by Tennessee Williams anything by Somerset Maughm like the Razor's Edge is excellent or the Bronte sisters, Emily or Charlotte Biographies look for "Ecstacy and Me" by Hedy Lamaar a real hard one to find but real good.
