where can i obtain an email list for marketing for free?

I have a small online business and i would like to obtain a list of opt in email addresses for marketing

1. your question isnt clear, but i know that university business schools have lists like that.
2. I doubt you will be able to obtain this 'for free' ... However, it seems quite a few companies are willing to sell their customer eMail lists to 3rd parties .. one reason why I always tick all the 'no thank you' boxes (and, where possible, give a fake eMail address :-) ) ..
