Work experience to get in a top 10 MBA program?

Hi. I know that in general you need 3/4 years of experience to get in a top MBA school. My question is: what type of work experience is better appreciated by top business school? I know that they select people from different background, but I am sure that there must be something they prefer (Management Consulting?, I-Banking?, etc) Do they prefer big known companies to smaller ones? Thanks

1. You are in the same position as a friend of mine. You do need a solid work experience from finance or brokerage firm.
