What can I threaten a big reputable company with to force them to take me off their mailing lists?
I have 3 times tried to use the automated system on this company's website to remove myself from their mailing lists. I have also written to their customer service department asking them to remove me. No joy. What can I threaten them with to make them take me seriously?

- Put their e-mails in your delete mechanism.
- You can threaten to let loose a whole load of little furry kittens in their premises. You can go there and stand in reception and say, Naughty naughty naughty, and wag your finger at them, but not in a threatening way. I can think of lots of other things. (Sorry, I keep getting deleted for violations so I,m being really cute and sweet and nice, LOL)
- What kind of mail are we referring about? Email, I just block new stuff, seems to be the only way. Snail mail, I love to take all the crap, and shove it back into the pre-payed envelope, tape, so it stays together, and send back, with a few choice messages, in it.
- when u get a message report it as junk and it should end up in bulk or junk instead of inbox
- It is next to impossible to remove yourself from a spam list. Spam is a billion dollar business and it's not going away anytime soon. And by sending them an email message asking to be removed just verifies that they have a valid email ID for you. It makes matters worse not better. Add the senders domain to your junk mail or spam list and every time you get mail from them it will automatically get deleted.
- I know somebody that used to go to the loo and use the paper provided by the company to wipe himself. He then returned said soiled paper in the return envelope! He never received anything else from them! A bit extreme I know but effective. lol
- Publicity (bad) Here's my idea ... send them an Invoice marked 'Payment Request for Processing Mail' ... and charge them some reasonable rate eg. £35 per letter for sending back their junk mai... = and tell the local press what you did :-) If they fail to respond, send them recorded delivery 'Final Demand for Invoice re: ...' If they fail to respond, send them recorded delivery 'Notification of Default - failure to respond within 14 days will result in legal action' If they don't respond within 14 days go to Small Claims court and issue summons (will cost you about £35 .. ) If they ignore that you will get Judgement in default - and if they ignore that you can apply for Court Bailiffs to seize their property ! (happened to a well known high street Bank - Manager had to pay out of his own pocket to stop Bailiff's seizing his Computer :-) )
- Keep returning it to them as "Return To Sender". Then it is their responsibility
- its against the law, people in america have sued for it. Tell them you have got legal advice from Haribo and i say they must stop it!
- in the uk? the information commissioner - they deal with breaches of the data protection act and the info people hold on you good luck m x
- fill out this form if you're in the UK and hopefully something will be done about it! http://www.ico.gov.uk/upload/documents/library/privacy_and_electronic/forms/pecr_complaints_form.doc
